Part II of Jason's weekly summer solo series begins with Forever and Never,ย written in June 2016! Great tune, very contemporary and takes Jason into a new songwriting realm (and singing realm).
Forever and Never Lyrics:
I've watched every smile from a distance and I've caught every teardrop in my hands And I've felt your resistance to my touch but I can't force you to understand That I am on your side when I feel the world's against you, I can feel you melting down My love is burning for you, one thing I can assure you is I'll always be around
I will never desert your I will never leave you, my love And I will never hurt you Reach out your hand and take my love And I know you're scared but I will be with you forever And I'm never going anywhere
I've watched from the sidelines and I'll try to give you signs that I'm here for you I've felt all the abandonment, all the betrayal that you've ever gone through
I will never desert your I will never leave you, my love And I will never hurt you Reach out your hand and take my love And I know you're scared but I will be with you forever And I'm never going anywhere
Forever and never, forever and never Forever and never, forever and never I'm never going anywhere
I am on your side when I feel the world's against you, I can feel you melting down My love is burning for you, one thing I can assure you is I'll always be around
I will never desert your I will never leave you, my love And I will never hurt you Reach out your hand and take my love And I know you're scared but I will be with you forever And I'm never going anywhere

If you check the old post under Paper Cuts, they started talking about it there. It's on his youtube channel now & I think available to download on itunes.
I agree that it reads as cheesy, but the song itself is awesome! This is exactly what a new Lifehouse radio single should be. I think this easily gets major love on Top 40 radio. What could've been...

I'm so behind, I'm finally catching up on the last few songs I missed. Sink or Swim is awesome. I'm loving that one.
The teaser of Forever and Never on iTunes sounds awesome! I can't wait to get the whole song.

This new song is okay. I disagree 100% with the notion that this is what a modern day Lifehouse single should like. I don't find it overly appealing and I'm not sure on the lyrics. One thing we know though, Lifehouse has never put out the same sounding single twice. There is a lot of variety to the songs released (especially lead singles for albums). So maybe this is what a modern take would be. I
One thing I'm curious of. When will Lifehouse find the groove and formula that's best for them as artists. Not every band is Radiohead who reinvent the wheel with every album. When I think of the Lifehouse sound both on record and as a live act- I think the Who We Are years shows the band at their most natural and where they will gravitate towards as the years go on. Wasteland was definitely a nudge in that direction. I'm not sure.

It's not on the europe version of his youtube channel, but someone recorded the song (crappy recording though and I was still not impressed, but it could grow on me I guess).
lyrically, I need more though. perhaps that's just me changing as a person, but this doesn't tingle me in any which way.

Well, yeah, the lyrics are cheesy & not the deepest thing he's put out. It's simple & upbeat. I'm also not saying I want a full CD of songs like this, but what I definitely believe is that this would be a killer single for them. This is exactly the type of song that would do incredibly well on the radio. Much more of a market for this than there was for Hurricane which was just too First Time / Halfway Gone to still be relevant for radio.

I wouldn't have thought of this as being a Lifehouse single, interesting. I've been listening to it a lot over the past day and I think it could totally be a Lifehouse song with different production and Bryce's bgvs. Lyrically it's not the deepest song ever but it's more involved than most of the songs on Smoke & Mirrors (All In, Halfway Gone, etc.), similar to several from the self-titled (We'll Never Know, Days Go By, Undone). The tune is really catchy and warm, and the banjo and accordion are my favourite parts of the song along with the falsetto on the chorus vox. I'm not sure about every single being different; that was mostly true until Hurricane, which literally has the same melody as All In. I would like to hear it with electric guitars, as I feel like Jason's ES335 is very important to Lifehouse's signature sound. I also agree that WWA was their best era

Another Tuesday, another delay. I'm surprised that Jason has yet to mention anything about Forever and Never yet after it's been released for a few days now..

Another Tuesday, another delay. I'm surprised that Jason has yet to mention anything about Forever and Never yet after it's been released for a few days now.. Just an update - it looks like he's finally announced it and that could be this week's track and finally got an album title which is an EP this time around by the name of Highways and Low Days with another one called Rocket. Here's the post from his Facebook page: The next group of songs that I'll be releasing is going to be an EP called Highways and Low Days. Half of the songs were written for the solo project I was working on a few years ago that turned into Out of the Wasteland, "Highways and Low Days" and "Rocket". The other half were inspired and written for some films, "Pulse", "My Universe" and "Survive". The first track is a song called "Forever and Never". I wrote this song after a Lifehouse rehearsal one day. The song took a while to finish. It was kind of taken apart and put back together, but there was always something that I really liked about it. Hope you enjoy!

Right on. Are these songs he's already registered online? I'm just curious as to when the others were composed that weren't part of the Paper Cuts/Wasteland idea. Some songs from the 05-08 era would be amazing. I don't know what was in his water then, but we need to find it and spike the water supply in his area of California.

Ah! What the hell happened to my avatar, Buster Bluth?!? That has been with me since the LifehouseFans.com days. This is truly a bad moment in the history of Lifehouse. Right up there with when Alex was talking shit, SCF flopping, Sean leaving, years of awful rock star posing by Ben, the hiatuses, and now this.
