The more I listen to it, the more I love Rocket. It's not overly original or anything, but it's so pleasant to the point of being able to change your mood instantly. That and this one really has an Emerson Hart vibe to it that I love. The intro sounds just like Emerson's Green Hills Race for California and/or You Know Who I Am. Addicting in my opinion.
If I had to rank the tracks on this EP:
1. Rocket
2. Highways & Low Days
3. Forever & Never
4. Survive
5. Pulse
6. My Universe
...I really just wish we could forget My Universe entirely & replace with any of the tracks we've all been asking for (ie: The Edge, What Happens Next, Climb, etc etc).

With some exceptions I find many of the lyrics a bit derivative and less creative than his usual stuff, as though he cowrote it all. Still like it a lot! Forever and Never is one of my favourite songs he's written in a long time.

I have to agree with @lhfanmi. Rocket is surprisingly addictive after a few listens.

I guess I just don't get the love for Pulse. Sure, it has a good overall message & is uplifting but it's just bland & generic to me. Never really gets going. It's like a throwaway song he wrote on the same day he was shooting for songs like Signs of Life or Flight. This one is still a billion times better than Universe, don't get me wrong there, but some track had to take the 5th spot for me.

But I do also agree that Forever & Never is one of his best in a while. Still stand by what I said before: should've been a Lifehouse radio single. |

Maybe you're hearing something that myself and others aren't hearing. That song feels forced. Forced more than any Lifehouse song since maybe half of Smoke and Mirrors. I don't know how to explain. It's so beautiful that I forget how I don't like the lyrics 😂😂 |
