Yeah, Vienna's music used to be wonderful, but I'm not really getting into her new stuff either

Gregory and the Hawk <3 I love MM's new song. It's kinda emo, but... it's still got the same MM twist to it that stops it from being just another off-the-production-line song. I'm actually really looking forward to the new album. If it's available here, I may actually make a purchase instead of torrenting it

Frightened Rabbit has been in my top 2 ever since i discovered it, but if any album can knock it off as my aoty, Moving Mountains is it. but i doubt it can, there's only 4 songs, but supposedly its 35 minutes long. so it exciting! Polarkreis 18 - The Colour of Snow I'm very very impressed. They are from Germany so it has that nice color in the vocals. Some of the songs are in English. and i guess Electropop is an accurate 'genre' description. I like my albums to have lots of melodies and not too poppy, but catchy enough so when i'm finish, the music still resonates in my mind. I never heard of them til yesterday, but based on the youtube video, they got a big fanbase already. Library Tapes - A Summer Beneath the Trees Goddamn Electric Bill - Topics for Gossip I've been out of touch with post-rock, but these two are pretty chill. When i first joined myspace in 2005, Goddamn Electric Bill were one of the first 'bands' to add me so it's cool that they are getting notice (at least in the post-rock community). Thursday / Envy - Split EP The Envy stuff is sick. The only screamo band that I like. Thursday's side of the ep are cool too. I'm not familiar with their other stuff, but I though they were in the same category as taking back sunday, brand new, the used, ect. either they improve or i was wrong. They really got the soundscape going for them.

I really really like her voice so right now, I'll say it's good. Around the 7 scale for me. i think Lisa has a lovely voice. that's one of the albums i would like to get - although i'm not sure if local stores carry it anyways, anyone here a fan of James Morrison? i loved his debut album and his new one was just released..anyone heard it yet?

The New Frontiers broke up. that sucks so bad. They might be a cookie cutter pop-rock band, but I liked them more than Augustana, The Fray, ect. I'm surprise actually that they didn't get more press. Listen to a few songs if you're reading this. I never heard of Al Stewart, but his new album is pretty nice. can't believe that dude is 63. and hello qin. I kinda though Morrison makes the same type of music as james Blunt, but checking some videos of him on youtube, he sounds very soulful. did you like his new one? If you say so, i'll give it a listen.

Al had a couple of good hits though, I'm surprised that you hadn't heard about him.
And yeah, I do enjoy James Morrison.. I find him to be closer to Gavin DeGraw & Paolo Nutini than to James Blunt (aka, I can't stand James Blunt, but I do enjoy the others). I think his 2nd album is kinda similar to his debut, but both are pleasant albums to listen to while you're taking a drive or something.

Gosh, James Blunt's singing is really getting on my nerves. I can't believe he even has a second album. It's like elevator music or something.
James Morrison is alright. I remember listening to his first single and not thinking much of it. The new one sounds better. I'm really picky. *lol* Maybe it's just not my kind of music. But I agree, he's definitely much better than James Blunt.

I'm really drowning in the work for Inner Ear & IE Myspace lately. Networking's really paying off right now, and I have so many reviews and a good couple of interviews coming up.. ah well, keeps me off the streets I suppose.

hello Yndi - James Morrison is definitely someone you can check out..plus he sounds pretty good live - that's very important i personally can't stand James Blunt either - he was totally over exposed - when his 'Beautiful' came out..it was EVERYWHERE..there was no escape.. *shudders*
anyway, what about We Are Scientists? Any fans here?

Snow Patrol put snippets of their new album up on their members only page for a preview listen (its free to register). I haven't listened to all of it yet, but it sounds good! I love the song "crack the shutters". They have explanations/interpretations to each song by Gary Lightbody, said during the snippets and I couldn't resist but keep listening to each songs story (sometime I don't like to know the reason behind the song because it might ruin it for me). But yeah, I can't wait for the album to come out

the first two tracks of the new snow patrol are cool. Then i got bored. "Set Down Your Glass" is good. It reminds me of Red House Painters. Overall, I didn't feel like they did anything too exciting.

random thoughts on a few albums I listen to in the past 2 weeks.
Third Eye Blind - Red Star EP, It's actually good. I'm surprise. With the delays, writer's block and Vanessa Carlton, i was expecting them to make an outdated album. Part of me feels that the sound might be an attempt to recapture their old sound, but iono, it's their sound. I can't think of anyone that sings like him. So it works. Now I'm actually looking forward to the album.
Dido - Safe Trip Home, my first listen, "this is boring." second listen, "dang, she sounds so isolated, i like it." now i'm just like, whatever. It's pretty cool as chillout music. so maybe between a 6/10 or 7/10.
Taylor Swift - yay! Well not really.
Forgive Durden - Razia's Shadow, it's suppose to be a musical with a bunch of guest stars like the dude from mewithoutYou, the girl from the Hush Sounds, the dude from Panic at the Disco. Anyways, I enjoyed the beginning, then i just got bored.
Yiruma - Good piano music. It's hard to compare with his other albums cuz he only uses the piano so they all feel like their part of the same "era.' The music is mostly umm, the opposite of dark?
Beyoncé - I actually like her 'personal' side songs. Like "Halo" is cool. But then her 'dance' side, those songs suck.
Joshua Radin - for some reason, I though this dude was the guy that sings with Colbie Caillat. anyways, I like his voice. The album could have been better. But really, nice voice.
God Is An Astronaut - I still prefer their first album, but this was a solid record.
Butch Walker - I remember trying him years ago and I didn't like him, but maybe my taste improved cuz this album is good. Feels like a 7ish/10.
The Narrative - for about two weeks, i was really into this EP. It's still pretty cool, male/female vocals. For the most part, the guy is the lead, but the girl adds a lot to the harmonies so it's pretty fun. It's not cute like the Weepies or loud like Stars, but I think they are gonna be big, at least with the younger generation.
Lost in the Trees - so good. He has that folk voice, but I find their music and lyrics to be exactly what i want to hear. Just needs to be longer than 31 minutes. I like their range in instruments.
The (International) Noise Conspiracy - first time hearing them. I like it.
Little Joy - I don't even like the Strokes. This album has a lo-fi sound to it which i'm cool with. Right now, i can listen to it, but i don't know how attach i'll be in a month or so. I'm guessing no.
Leona Lewis - they keep playing her song "Better in time" at the gym, so i downloaded the album and the rest sucks.
Girls Aloud - The first song is cool, everything else is popcrap.
Right Away, Great Captain! - From that dude from Manchester Orchestra. Hi Liza. I never ended up downloaded any MO albums, but maybe that's a good thing cuz this album surprised me. It's really good. it's more of a stripped down folk thing.
Alli Rogers - I'm late on this, but i had leftover downloads on eMusic and i just thought I'll see if they had her and they did. track 3-5 are really strong songs. I honestly didn't like her more pop approach songs (track 2, 6) at first, but i guess they grew on me. And "At Sea" keeps entering my head at random times of the day.
Jon Foreman - Speaking of Liz, yeah, jon foremen has a compilation album of his 4 EPs. I already listen to the eps, but i only did it once so i wouldn't be indifferent when the compilation came out. And it's really ridiculous how solo jon foreman is so much better than switchfoot.
Nickelback - I listened to the first 5 tracks and then i stopped. They sound lamer.
David Cook - I know there's a thread, but i didn't want to bother the girls. So I try to be open minded to all type of music, but there's something about 'post grunge' that just turns me off so much. I'm gonna need more listens, but so far, he really likes that 'big rock' sound. Like all of them feel like rock anthems. It's friendly, but i hate it. I kinda like "Come Back To Me" the best, even thought it's a little textbook. "Bar-ba-sol" ehh, too hard man.
I can't wait to get my free Dr Pepper next next week. I still need to listen to Deerhunter's Microcastle and Shiny Toy Guns' Season of Poison
