Hey y'all,
In light of Obama's victory tonight, I felt compelled to do a little searching on the Internet, and I found a web site where you are allowed to e-mail letters to elected officials. I hope you all enjoy my message!
Love,
Karla
Thank you for using Congress.org Mail System.

Dear Mr. Obama,
I just wanted to write this letter on behalf of the victory you've had
tonight! Allow me to introduce myself fairly quickly. My name is Karla
Culbertson. I am a 24 year old wheelchair bound female from Baton Rouge,
Louisiana. I am wheelchair bound due to premature birth and Cerebral
Palsy. However, I do not let my limitations stand in the way of achieving
my dreams! As a matter of fact, I am a college graduate who received a
bachelors degree in Social Work last fall, and I will soon be embarking on
a journey of a lifetime; I am moving to New Orleans to attend the Tulane
University School of Social Work, and I will be specializing in the area
of mental health specifically. As a person with a social work degree, I am
more than honored to see that you're now the President of the United
States of America! Thank you so much for standing up for middle class
citizens like myself, and more importantly, thank you for idealizing many
of the values that we as people in the social work field stand for. You
are recognized and you are honored in the eyes of many, undoubtedly, but
your impact as President will surely be felt by me, as a minority in both
the disabled world and the social work profession!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I wish you all of the best and much
continued success in the Washington and abroad!!
Sincerely,
Karla Elizabeth Culbertson

I have to say, for once, I'm proud of America and I can't wait to see how Obama will change it to a better.
I do belive that the USA will be now as popular as it was before the Bush time. I remember how the people loved america (incl. me), how exciting it was and how it all went down when Bush had the power.
Congrats America!

...and California voted to deny marriage equality. Still lots of absentee ballots to be counted, but it's probably not going to amount to enough "NO" votes . My happiness for Obama is tempered by the sadness I feel for my friends in California who deserve all the happiness in the world, including marriage.

I really don't see the big deal with marriage for everyone, but I know I'm in the minority here, just as you are. Oh, well, what can we do? People are going to make decisions about what they see fit, and a lot of people believe in the sanctity of marriage.

I'm really annoyed by the bans on gay marriage. They are unconstitutional.

It's the total opposite here... my little town of Cambridge voted 88% for Obama. I think there already are some legal challenges being made against Prop 8 in California... like whether Prop 8 was a revision vs. an amendment. Apparently, a "revision" of the constitution requires a 2/3 vote while an "amendment" requires a simple majority. So hopefully this isn't the end of the story.
