My first reaction - Why do people cheat? Poor Elizabeth My second reaction - He's definitely the father. My third reaction - What a selfish ***, to run for the democratic nomination thinking that this would remain a secret. He would have destroyed the Democratic party's chances for the next four years.

I am soooo disappointed with him . He was one of my favorites and I can't believe what he said. "I didn't love her." Oh, so that makes it better? I hope he is the father and she sues for child support. It's never worth it especially when your wife is going through a very difficult struggle herself . Selfish ass

yes, this is sad. i thought he was a decent guy. not only did he cheat, but he cheated when his wife was sick. that's just dispicable! now obama can not pick him and better not if he wants to win.

This whole thing has pissed me off... I really liked John Edwards but that's one of the worst things you can do - especially to someone who was SICK. WTF is wrong with him? He's making me doubt my judgement...

He's making me doubt my judgement... Don't doubt your judgment too much...the adultery while your spouse is sick thing seems sadly, all too common . McCain's story is kinda similar. McCain's first wife (of 14 years) was a model, but she got into a car accident during McCain's imprisonment that left her severely disfigured and confined in a wheelchair for a long time. McCain came back to America, divorced her some years later and married Cindy a month after the divorce...

I mean, Edwards did a dickhole thing, but he's still a good politican. It'll just be hard to see past the bullshit of the affair, but he'd still make a good VP. Even Clinton was a good president.

It still comes to the trust issue. Do you want someone who can play the political field, or do you want someone you can trust?

It'll just be hard to see past the bullshit of the affair, but he'd still make a good VP. Even Clinton was a good president. I think this will blow over eventually and I hope it does. Edwards' advocacy on issues of poverty and such is really important. I guess for me, what he does personally is his business and his business to resolve (I believe this, even though I have to convince myself to believe this sometimes), but I think it becomes my business when his actions affect the course of the country. I shudder when I think about the what ifs - what if he was Obama's VP and this news broke out the week before elections? However, I honestly don't really know if this will harm the democrats and their agenda in a significant way, so even though I'm morally disgusted by his actions, perhaps I shouldn't be too angry at him politically (yet). I kinda agree with Koen - it comes down to the trust issue. I don't know if I can trust him (morally, to do the right thing, etc) and I don't know if I trust him to play the political field (i.e., keep common interests ahead of his own personal ambitions, help win an election).

Trust? A politian? You guys can't be serious about that? Honestly, I love Barack, but I don't trust him 100%. Morally, I think Edwards has hurt himself with this, but I trust him way more than McCain, Bush or Hilary Clinton.

People just need to trust a politician enough so that they'd support the politician's vision and policy proposals.

McCain is going to announce his VP on your birthday then. ^
Obama has made up his mind and will announce some time. Alot of different reports on timing but all seem to say he made up his mind on his vacation. Wednesday at the earliest and Saturday at the latest.
