I know that nobody will think that I could possibly give an objective review of Lifehouse's music or their live show... but I really am trying to view this from the point of view of someone who is skeptical about the new music and Lifehouse's new direction and stuff.
All I have to say is that I have NEVER, EVER seen them perform better. They have so many tricks up their sleeve that fans have not seen before. It was overwhelming how amazing these songs came off live. The energy was completely ridiculous. If you don't think Lifehouse are feeling these songs, you're DEAD wrong! Sorry, but you are. And it's ok to be wrong... I love ya anyways and hope you give all of this newness time to sink in. If you don't like it, then so be it... but I can guarantee you that PLENTY of other people will feel the excitement about this new material.
Winnie is playing more than just a supporting role in the band and he is just one of their secret weapons... he is playing keyboards, guitar, and singing backup and even a short solo vocal... and he's REALLY good!!!!
With Winnie doing that, it frees up Jason to interact more with the music and the crowd. Jason is busting out some dance moves you've never seen before in your lifetime. He's playing tamborine... stomping around on stage, basically becoming the music... and he basically at one point did a Geronimo leap off stage to interact with the crowd. lol
Bryce... oh man... you guys... Bryce's vocals made my jaw drop... I mean, I've always liked his voice, but he is so much stronger as a vocalist that it's not EVEN funny. He is such a great supporting vocalist for Jason, but when it's his time to sing a solo part... it's EFFORTLESS now... wow... props to Bryce... plus he's playing bass and keys and still bringing out the bow ... not to mention ROCKING that cool hat of his.
Ben is ridiculous, as always!!! It was so much fun to see Ben playing some solos and interacting with Jason and the other guys ... he's just loving this new material and it shows... I think a lot of the success of these songs live depends on him rocking that heavy guitar stuff.
And RICKY is just sitting back there in the background being THE ENTIRE BACKBONE of this operation... the beats that Ricky plays on these new songs are so different and exciting... I mean... wow.... I think that the percussion on many of these tracks completely MAKES the songs. Often the drum transitions are the parts that give me goosebumps.
So, all I want to say is that AS USUAL... going to a concert of theirs always brings their CD's to life for me. This concert did so in a BIG way... it makes me love the CD even more because it reminds me now of the amazing energy that there is during the live performance.
I don't really swear all that much... or I try not to, but they had me saying Dayyyyyyyyum ALL night long.
THEIR LIVE SHOW IS NOT TO BE MISSED! I can guarantee that you will LOVE it! Or I think you may need to check your pulse to see if you're still living. haha
Sorry... I'm just super enthusiastic about this concert right now and after talking to them just a little about how they felt about the fan reactions... they are HAPPY that people are reacting to it... they hope people like it, but they can't dictate that... All I know is that they love it and are super confident about themselves and it shows how much they love their music more than ever. I promised Jude Cole that I would write a review of the show, and there it is. I could talk about it all day! But I will stop now.
If anyone is interested, I can post the setlist and also some vids from the show.
