I don't think you can listen yet. I think the 'Listen everybody' was just a play on words to say: Look, new single announced on amazon.

haha I was just too excited with the hopes of hearing even just a clip of another song that I didn't bother to think thru the cruel play on words!

here are the lyrics (provisional, but I think they are pretty accurate)
Nobody Listen
Future lives in the mind While we fall from behind Missing light from the trees Missing you, look at me From the fire to a sound From the fear we expound Give it life, make it breathe Spinning wheels into words we believe.
Everybody talk, nobody listen, nobody listen, nobody listen Everybody talk, nobody listen, nobody listen, nobody listen Everybody talk, nobody listen, nobody listen, nobody listen Ooohooohoooh.
Hear the thunder and rain Fear our heart, filled with pain Travel through time and space Where did love lose its place Can we find who we are If we stare at a star In the silence it screams There is nothing that is as it seems.
Everybody talk, nobody listen, nobody listen, nobody listen Everybody talk, nobody listen, nobody listen, nobody listen Everybody talk, nobody listen, nobody listen, nobody listen Ooohooohoooh, ooohooohoooh.
Can we find who we are If we stare at a star In the silence it screams There is nothing that is as it seems.
Everybody talk, nobody listen, nobody listen, nobody listen Everybody talk, nobody listen, nobody listen, nobody listen Everybody talk, nobody listen, nobody listen, nobody listen Ooohooohoooh, ooohooohoooh, ooohooohoooh.

I think you hit the nail on the head w/ the lyrics, Koen. I really like the tune. I was hoping the final chorus would have Jason kick it up an octave, but it should be a good single. I'm loving the exploring sound of this. It definitely pushes their sound a bit, which is long overdue. The guitar reminds me of U2, backing vocals remind me of Coldplay and I really don't know how to classify the rest. Pretty good tune.

I like the song. I would never know it was Lifehouse if not for Jason's voice. I got a John Mayer feel from it.

I've had this song on repeat pretty much nonstop since yesterday -- everywhere I go in the car I'm listening. I absolutely love the message of this song. At first, I didn't think I heard any Lifehouse in there other than Jason's vocals, but I hear Revolution Cry a bit in the guitar parts. I love it!

I just bought it and I like it a lot. I think it's nicer than Between the Raindrops and it's nice that Lifehouse is experimenting with new sounds without selling out.
As much as I'd love for them to keep making more albums like Stanley Climbfall, that won't happen.
1. Jason's ten years older.
2. Sergio left the band (and his bass playing was the best part of the first two albums for me.)
3. 90s's style alt-rock-grunge wouldn't sell anymore, sadly.

I think I hear a bit of John Mayer in there too! I think it's bits in the Chorus where Jason sounds a bit John-Mayer-like.
The song makes my head bop with the beat. That's kinda nice. I guess the downside of the song for me would be the lyrics. It seems very straightforward. I miss the vagueness, the leaving the interpretation up to the listener.
And yeah, I don't think another Stanley Climbfall will be in the making, unfortunately. I agree with all three points you make. Jason sounds very different now compared to 10 years ago. I also really liked Sergio's contribution to the band. And in a world of Justin Biebers and One Direction, alt-rock-grunge bands are not going to thrive. And I want Lifehouse to thrive, because that brings them across the big pond!

the 90's post-grunge scene still has a huge underground following, so commercially, you can still be very succesful. The general direction though has gone towards pop-folk and folk-rock. Lifehouse isn't fit to be 'folky'. It's not really in their nature.. it may be fine for a song or two, but not a whole album. But there's a niche between the folk-rock and the uptempo indiepop where Lifehouse could really shine and be extremely creative. I wished they would've gone more into that direction as I feel that would come across more natural for them. Also, I hope there are a lot of demos where Jason went back to the roots of his songwriting, where he delves from personal inspiration, which was more evident on the first 3 albums. Not necessarily back to the sound of those albums, but the personal touch, the deeper meaning and the imagery.
