You & Me was never released as a single in Europe, so it's not a very well known song to people outside of Lifehouse fans Oh wow! Thanks for telling me that. I didn't know that... That is so weird to me because that song is unbelievably popular here. I mean ... they couldn't get that song OFF the charts which I think became a bit of a challenge for that self titled CD because they couldn't even release another single in it's shadow. I guess considering that information, what you guys are saying kind of makes sense for Europe. I have kind of a funny story about one of my awesome friends who loves Lifehouse but didn't like "Falling In" at first. She thought it was way too lovey dovey or whatever at first. When she saw it live, she liked it a little better but still wasn't sold. I tried my hardest to sway her, but she wasn't going to budge. A few weeks ago, I heard from her. She'd met someone and was starting a relationship with him and was really super happy. Guess what song she suddenly LOVED?!?! hahaha... I just think it's a song that perfectly describes a certain moment of falling in love with someone and not everyone is going to relate to that or will like it, but there is something so romantic and fun and simple about the song. Sometimes we just need a sweet song in our lives. I think, at least in the US, we need a sweet, simple romantic song for the upcoming Spring and Summer months. It's got a really easy feel to it and I think that's going to go over very well. At least, I hope so. So... if you don't like "Falling In" right now... maybe you just need to give it a while Maybe you WILL be "Falling In" love with it when you're in the right frame of mind. hahaha Thanks for what you said, Lynn. That was really nice to read. I have a bit of a Pollyanna complex, but I try to keep it in check. haha... It's usually very easy for me to be positive about Lifehouse, though. Just comes naturally

Breathing got a proper US and a proper European (even a joint German/Dutch) release, so that wasn't the reason it didn't go big. It was just the right song at the wrong time so to speak.. Those songs didn't make it big on the radio until a few years later..

I have a question for the music experts among us: How does the releasing of singles work? I find it kinda strange that You and Me was never released and somehow they did decide to release Halfway Gone. Was it the case that Halfway Gone just got popular with the (Dutch) audience and then they decided to officially release the song? It just seems a bit strange that they suddenly decide to release another single in Europe. It just seems to come out of the blue (not that I'm complaining or anything). Was there something that happened that led to the release? Just curious. The whole self-titled album didn't get a European release. Some record stores and retailers did carry the album, but it was the US import. Later it did get a deluxe and Japanese release, but never a proper European release. This was due to a decision by Geffen/Interscope (not sure which of them was/is pulling the strings) and the same goes for the Who We Are. Then suddenly (due to the fact that some radio DJs in the Netherlands and Germany started playing the song on their own account) Halfway Gone started climbing the charts in those two countries and Geffen and Lifehouse used that to their advantage. This, in combination with Lifehouse's own wish to return to Europe (because they really badly wanted to come back) started this run of shows in Netherlands, Germany & UK.. this is where they still had the most contacts and were doing well in the charts, so it was easier to get booked there. I'm assuming they're working on expanding their touring schedule to more places in Europe for the next album, though these countries have always been their core countries in Europe when it came to touring and releasing, but they have strong fan bases in Scandinavia, Iceland, Italy, France and Switzerland/Austria (and I think that they are starting to get more popular in Eastern Europe too, but someone else might have a better picture of that), so they should at least consider going there eventually if they can manage to get airplay and to get booked.

As Koen said, You And Me wasn't released in Europe, but here in Austria it was played to death. It was ALL THE TIME on the radio and GoTV (a great Austrian music TV channel) played the vid also A LOT. Halfway Gone is played a lot in radio, but never on TV, but All In is all the time on TV, still never on radio, WEIRD! I mean, come on, every teenage girl should have been drooling over that song, right? Well I was still 19 when I became a fan, but was never drooling over the song now I'm 29 and still not drooling ;D

Aaww, that is a cute story about your friend falling in love I guess love can change your view on things like that ^_^ I hope everyone massively falls in love in the coming weeks or so. Maybe we can get Falling In to the number 1 position. Love potion anyone? Breathing got a proper US and a proper European (even a joint German/Dutch) release, so that wasn't the reason it didn't go big. It was just the right song at the wrong time so to speak.. Those songs didn't make it big on the radio until a few years later.. Breathing was released in Holland? I don't remember hearing it on the radio or on TV (not even a few years later). But I have to admit that I wasn't a big Lifehouse fan back then. So I could've easily missed it... In the short time that I have been active on this board, you already have been quite a valuable source of information to me. Thanks Koen! Do you, by chance, happen to know which radio DJs have a soft spot for Lifehouse (in the Netherlands, I mean)? I wonder whether bringing older songs to their attention might be of any use... So You and Me was really popular in Austria? Wow, that kind of makes me wonder why the band did not visit Austria on their last European tour or even before that. Well I was still 19 when I became a fan, but was never drooling over the song now I'm 29 and still not drooling ;D Just wait until you're 103, I'm sure by that time you WILL be drooling over the song (and potentially also other things...)

My apologies for posting this in Dutch. It's about what radio DJs in the Netherlands started playing Lifehouse again and helped HG get a good spot in the charts here

It was, at some point I already wished that my friends and family would stop calling me everytime they catch the song/vid But I don't think it ever got into the charts, only info on Austrian charts I could find is this www.austriancharts.at/showinterpret.asp?interpret=LifehouseSo apprently HG was in the charts for 14 weeks and highest place was 40 SAM only 1 week on #44

Would be cool if the Dutch radio station playing more Lifehouse. Sick cycle carousel and Spin. IF they play Lifehouse then is it Hanging by a moment, Halfway gone and All in. Can't remember hearing Take me away in the Stanley Climbfall time.
Sometimes in a bar in my town they play the video-clip of First time on the TV screens, but that song was never released here. Would be cool if the radio stations will play it too. Maybe we need to try to contact or e-mail some Dutch radio stations to ask about this.

Spin got a lot of airplay on Radio 538 back in 2002/2003 and Take Me Away (the live @ Pinkpop version) got some airplay at 3FM in the second half of 2003.
I think you can request HBAM, SCC, Spin, TMA, HG & AI at 3FM and HBAM, Spin & HG at 538 and HBAM, HG & AI at Sky and Q

Hahaha, you guys are too funny! I'm having this mental picture of a drooling Quasiminka doing badass stuff that gives her trouble breathing. Can't get it out of my head. Sometimes in a bar in my town they play the video-clip of First time on the TV screens, but that song was never released here. Would be cool if the radio stations will play it too. Maybe we need to try to contact or e-mail some Dutch radio stations to ask about this. I'm guessing that the more you request a song, the likelier it is that they will play it. So definitely email and/or contact them about it I think you can request HBAM, SCC, Spin, TMA, HG & AI at 3FM and HBAM, Spin & HG at 538 and HBAM, HG & AI at Sky and Q Yay \(^_^)/ 3FM seems to have the biggest variety in Lifehouse music, and I listen to that station in the car on my way to work and back. Too bad that Breathing is not in the list...

I'm jealous Spin got a lot of airtime over by you. I remember hearing it maybe a few times when they first released it, and then never again.
