So... everybody was really thinking that Falling In was going to be the next single featuring Alyssa Bernal. However, Lifehouse just tweeted that they are "sorting out" what the next single will be. What do you guys think that means? What do you think would be a good next single for the band?

I think for Falling In as the single it's a bit late, that would have been the perfect Valentines Day song (it could still be a great summer song). I wasn't anyway too thrilled about the duet part I'm listening right now to HTGT and think that this could actually be a pretty good single. It has a nice beat that you can dance to (at least I do ). It would fit in with all the Gaga, Kesha & Co. to the radio *shudder* (it's deinfitley not the music of my choice), could open some doors to them. I feel kinda sad for them (the weird interview with Jason) and would wish for them (deinfitley not for me) that they're become more successful all over the world.

I just saw on Twitter that it will be "Falling In." My thoughts: Ew.

i like the song, but i dont think it should represent the band on the radio. its a sell-out choice, imo. compare this to something like "breathing"... now THAT was a great love song.

I like Falling In but never really saw it as a single. Definitely not my favorite of the album but it doesn't even matter cause as soon as i hear it on the radio I'll get all excited lol. I guess I'm fine with it cause I didn't want IIWII cause I love that song to much and I'd hate an overkill (you know they'd play the heck outta that one).

Wouldn't have been my choice either. But they'll have a good reason for going with Fallin In. It's just that I'd rather see other songs in their setlist next week, but this means Falling In will still be in the list. Oh well, I am excited to see them again nevertheless.

The band just officilly confirmed that it will be FI, hitting radios in late February.

I guess you're not a fan? Which one would you personally have chosen?

i like the song, it's just one of those songs that doesn't really show creativity. personally I'd have gone with the title song.

Yes, Smoke and Mirrors is an awesome song that I can listen to over and over again. It's such a great song that I kinda want to keep it to ourselves (as opposed to releasing it to the masses). Silly, I know.... Falling in sounds a bit like many of the other pop songs that are out there. So indeed, commercially probably a good choice. Like you said, it's a good song, but not very special.

Lynn, that's the way I feel about Smoke & Mirrors. I know it sounds weird, but I want to keep for myself(ourselves) not the general public.

The problem with Falling In (for me) is that I wouldn't like to see Lifehouse defined by that song. It has the potential to become a huge commercial success for them, but I'm not sure it would have the right association with people. They'd expect something different than the band actually brings on stage and, for a large part, on CD. Other songs (Smoke & Mirrors, In Your Skin, It Is What It Is for example) would be the more obvious choices in that department. I could see how Had Enough or Here Tomorrow Gone Today would do well as singles also, and I think both songs are quite good, but again I'm not sure if they would really represent Lifehouse/define their sound correctly. But maybe I'm just overthinking this.

^^ That's kind of my thinking too. I'm worried people will hear FI, and associate it with Y&M and stereotype LH as the poppy, commercial love song band. I personally would have liked to see IIWII as the next single because it's different, but also recieved a good response when the album came out. But again, I have no knowledge of the music industry and have no idea what would actually do well or not, so this is totally an uneducated opinion here.
I just saw a radio promo CD pop up on ebay for FI. I don't know how legit it is since it's still quite early, but according to the seller, it is just a regular album version of the song, so I'm not sure if they are going to end up releasing the Alyssa Bernal version.
