yeah, i know, but i think most of us know who the big posters were. and they'll probably still have some of the top posts in the new fourms. and like eric said, that number shouldn't mean a whole lot. i do agree with people though, and i do care about my "ranking." but really, it's ok if we have a fresh start, i think. not the end of the world... at least we'll still all be able to talk.

i agree cayte, it was very sad at first but we all are able to talk over here and maybe the new lhfans mb might/could become more secondary in a way? i am sure i would still go there all the time but like you guys were saying this could be kinda like our secrect club thing haha... because i would rather talk to the people here anyway! hmmm i dunnno but i would also like to help and chip in because $300 unmoderated boards are pretty crazy

Damn it, I was so close before 10.000 - oh well, those are just numbers, so whatever as long as we have a place for us. And it's also not that bad over here , so whatever happens we'll have a place. Eric, so how are we supposed to help her, is there a donation page made or do we have to donate thru the one that is already set on the LHF page. And does she needs the money now or when you two ahve figured everyhting out and want to start it?

I'm ready to help in whatever way. i'm just glad we have some where to go and chat. the LH community has been a part of my life for the past 2 years now. i was so proud of myself when i made it to 1000 posts. i had to make the announcement to all my friends and family. but i don't mind starting posts over. we all know where we stand/stood anyway. i like this "secret" community over here too.

I know there's a donation page on lifehousefans.com I don't know if that goes towards the message board or not www.lifehousefans.com/donate.htmlbut you should probably wait to hear back from Eric before doing anything

I think it would be easier for them to make a paypal account on the new boards itself. A new paypal account, which they subscribe to paying for the boards only, so that all the money that gets in there automatically gets used to pay for the boards. All they'd have to do then is make sure there's enough money in there, everytime the bills come in. But if all the longtime fans pay only as much as a few $$ it should help a great deal.

I think when the official lhmb closed down, that was harder. We were mainly left out in the cold and only a handful of fans found their way to lhf (or El's board). We've certainly learned a lot from that and I am glad that Erica (and Eric) are doing their best to find another new home for the fans.

Yea... when the official board went down I just didn't go to any board at all for a good 6-7 months because LHfans had a bad rep back then and I wasn't going over there. I think we're definitely in a better place now Like Koen said I'd hold off on donating until they get something new set up (which I believe they intend to do) and then we'll go from there. Eric said he has found some good options so far; I didn't get the details but it should be MUCH better than $300 a month.

i lurked around lhfans quite often (i just don't have the time to post much anymore!) but this is how sickcycle had it's downfall too. bandwidth is just a killer. i don't know how erica afforded it as long as she did. and i got less than $20 in donations when i had my donations setup and i got nothing from the google ads (they're a tricky thing to try and use). i think since the band is so in touch with their fans (and mentioning lhfans in their linear notes) is a testament to how much they value their fans. i don't see why they don't take a more active role in promoting the online community. because the official website is the generic, overly-designed website that most record companies create for artists. so many other artists control their websites outside of their record company. or at least promote the fan sites and help keep them running. it'd be nice if the guys were able to do something like that.

this is so sad. i loved lifehousefans. it wasnt hard or confusing to use because you could only post in two different sections - lifehouse related and non-lifehouse related - it made it really accesable for everyone. when there are too many sections i think people hesitate to post because they dont know where to put it. i was so bummed when i saw lhfs was down. i really hope something can be worked out and i'd be more than willing to contribute in any way possible! i do agree though $300 is an insane amount of money to pay!

I haven't read all these posts in depth, but for those looking into a solution, I highly recommend looking into DreamHost as a server. If bandwidth is the issue, you can get 1.468 TB with a 16GB increase every week for $9.95 a month. 2.936 TB for $19.95/month. So, there should certainly be much cheaper options to transfer the site over to a better server...
