$300 a month is friggin' crazy. It'd be cheaper for all of us to join the exclusive Lifehouse Fan Club then to chip in a bit every month for lifehousefans.com.

This is all very odd to me. Do you think Geffen wanted LH Fans shut down to create more traffic at the official site boards? How could it cost $300 a month to run a message board? The timing of this just seems weird to me.

I think it's just the hosting server they use... it takes ALOT of bandwidth for us to be on there and talking 24/7  I think there's definitely cheaper options out there but she didn't know what to do.. so Eric's going to help and hopefully we'll find something better for everyone. |

I still don't know what to say about all this. I've thought about it a lot and I just really don't know how I feel.
But I do hope that whatever we do involves more active moderation than we've had.

You guys, you might not see it but this is a very good thing. Having a forum we all use daily/hourly without moderation is/was not a good thing.
Erica is asking for our help to pay for and manage the fan forum and the first step to this is likely going to be moving a better server and forum system.
Some of the benefits:
- It will be on a better forum system (likely p2pBB or vBulletin)
- There will be multiple moderators (we can take advantage of Sticky, Announcement, and other features)
- It will be the only/main thing hosted on this webhost so bandwidth / speed will all go to the forum
- It will be managed by the fans
Some of you might be concerned about the secret community you think we had/once had at Lifehousefans.com forum , but that was only really when there was also the main forum on the official site. Now there is not really a forum there so the main forum used by all fans was lifehousefans. And the people that knew about that will not change. It will be linked through lifehousefans.com and maybe a few other places. It will be as secretive or not as we want it to be, but we should not. It is a fan forum and it needs fans both big and small.
You might also be concerned about losing your "status" (mostly post count). There may be a way to set that, but even without it we are all starting from 0 so those that post a lot will have the higher #'s. You should not need a # to define who you are, most with those high #'s will likely be moderators anyways and like on here with good forum systems there are other ways to "group" people.
This will be a very good thing and the only negative you might see if that , last week we had a working forum (without moderation) and now we dont and a week from now (if things go as planned) we will have a new one.

Yeah, I don't really see why it's so bad either. But like I said before, it would be cool if we'd be able to archive the old forum so we could reminiscence (okay, correct my spelling there, lol) over it |

I'm not worried about my post count cause it wasn't very high, but I feel bad for Minka. She was so close to 10,000 But it sounds awesome that the board is gonna be better than ever. |
