Since we left December and eased into (or blasted into?) January, time for more and new randomness.

I'm already off to a bad start unfortunately. My laptop broke this morning  . In an hour or so I'm off to best buy to see if they can repair it. I don't think it's that big of a problem that needs repairing, so hopefully everything will go smoothly. I have a question for all the people good with technology on the boards. My parents want to get me a gift for the holidays (with the trip to Europ, we kind of didnt get to celebrate). I told them I don't need anything, but they're insisting on me telling them what I want. I'm thinking of maybe asking for a tuner or some device to record from the tv onto my computer. However, I'm not too advanced with all the technology, so I was wondering if anyone could make any suggestions on what to look for or recommend a device. I'd prefer something external that didnt require me to physically put it into my omputer's hardware, and something relatively cheap. (someone even recommended me buying a dvd recorder, recording things onto dvds, and thne using a program to extract them. think that's a better idea?) Anyway, I hope everyone else is having a much better start to the new year  |

I spent NYE alone and feeling sorry for myself, and New Year's Day in the cold in the rain catching brine shrimp so Dad could go fishing and catch de nada.

I spent NYE in Amsterdam!! and it was crazyyyyyy!!!!! Happy new year everyone lucky! and you didn't meet up with koen? It was a really spontaneous decision to go to Amsterdam. We literally decided to go the same day and then left 30 minutes later after booking all the train tickets and stuff. I messaged Koen on the forum while I was on the train using my friends iphone but he had already gone somewhere else I think, it was too short notice. Too bad But we had a great time!!! Some down sides were crazy people throwing bottles and fire crackers into the crowd, that wasn't cool. A huge wine bottle exploded right next to my foot and might as well have hit me in the face had I been one step further to the right. Some guy next to me had a firecracker blow up in his face and there was nearly no police presence which made it a really scary experience at times. The weather was also below freezing point and we had no hotel room and our train home didn't leave until 10:35 the next morning so we spent over 20 hours walking around Amsterdam at -10 degrees lol.... By the way, the train station there REALLY SUCKS. There are no seats ANYWHERE and it's just as cold inside as it is outside. We were waiting in there for 4 hours after all the coffeeshops and bars closed down. My friend passed out in one of the photo booths as that was the only place to sit down in the entire station (other than the cold floor)..... Anyway, don't wanna sound like a whiner. It was an awesome time Shame you guys couldnt be there. Maybe next year ;D |

Like i told before, my contract ends next week, January 15, but i think i already found a new job at another university. I'll have more details in a few days.
