So, this guy is expected to make landfall somewhere along the gulf coast as early as Tuesday! To be honest, the models are all over the place, stretching from Texas, to Louisiana (of course, we stick out like a sore thumb), and to the panhandle of Florida. So, even though we're quite uncertain about the direction of the storm at this point, PLEASE do me a favor, and keep the Gulf Coast States in your prayers!!!!! Thanks, guys; it means a bunch! ;D

Thank you, Katelyn!! So far, according to forecasts, it does not look good for Baton Rouge, but this is still 4 to 5 days out....

Aw, man. I think I just heard Anderson Cooper say he was headed down there. I seriously hope that it is not going to be a big storm

"You and Me" both ;D
Seriously, my hubby and I will be in Galveston this weekend for a planned long weekend trip. My guess is that we will have the TV on more than usual (which is none) to see where this storm is heading. My thought is that no matter what, we'll have the boats out of the water before we leave on Monday....and possibly bring them to Houston. We've had a house in Galveston for a couple of years and have been really lucky so far -- I'm going to hope and pray for continued success for us, not to mention for all those on the gulf coast who are at risk if Gustav turns ugly(ier).

Thanks Karla...it ought to be an interesting weekend. All th best to you guys in the Baton Rouge/N.O. area too. Edit: Here is a tracking site that has some really comprehensive maps. It REALLY does not look good for Louisiana as you look at all of the projection models......ughhhhh web.tampabay.rr.com/wolfy/

Thanks, Karen! And no, it doesn't look good, but it's still of to the side some. We're just going to keep faith, and at this point, if it comes, I just want it come, and get it over with!!

Ugh, I was just in Louisiana a few weeks ago and they just really can't take another big hit now. Things are really just starting to look normal again....God I can't imagine the new bridge being screwed up before it's even finished.
We're almost done with the repairs on Ryan's mother's house; it's looking so good....

Is there? Last I was hearing is that if Gustav continued as is, they'd start mandatory evacuation at 8am. For now, they ARE evacuating, but it's voluntary, and precautionary for elderly in facilities and such and those who have no other way out.

We're both half right. Apparently he's announced a mandatory evacuation to begin at 8am. It becomes mandatory at 8am on the west side, and mandatory on the east side at 12 noon.
