Sooooooooooo I finally have the chance to watch Switchfoot live! Four days from now, that is. If there is one emoticon to potray how I feel right now, it would be ---> I'm pretty sure a number of you on here are no longer Switchfoot concert virgins, so I would love to hear your input on what to expect in a Switchfoot concert I'm a hopeless spoiler whore and I can't help but look through setlists before concerts. But it helps in hyping you up before a concert I say. Anyway, Koen, I think I read years ago that you went and met up with SF during their tour in the Netherlands? I'm hoping they're extremely nice people? Haha. Nothing of the "fame getting to the head" kind. I also happen to know which hotel they would be staying at throughout their visit here to this part of the country. Is that stalkerish? Lol.

oh, ive seen switchfoot maybe 5 times live, and they are quite good. also really nice, down-to-earth guys like our lifehouse boys. as it turns out, jon and tim grew up in my hometown (reading, massachusetts.. a town outside of boston)! they moved out to california when they were around 10 or so. i was shocked when i found that out, lol. anyways, have a great time!

Thanks for the input, Rianne and Cayte! I've just been so crazy busy these past few days. My friend's involved with the event so I'm helping him out a bit. Also managed to dig out information regarding their flight arrival times here. So, I went to the airport earlier today ... And I greeted them! THEY WERE SO NICE. Tim looked smaller in person! I kinda blurted that out loud however and he looked ... ehhh.. Haha - but then I proceeded to giving him a hug. It seemed like he was the one fooling around the most. He was playing with the airport luggage cart thing and he pretended that he was surfing on it. I talked and shook hands with all of them and Jon gave me a hug! Sadly, I was the only fan in the airport... But I suppose only someone as crazy as me would be able to dig out information like that lol. I also happen to know which hotel they'll be staying at But I think if I show up there then they would be really freaked out. Anywayyy, I talked to Romey and Chad about how they should play Sooner or Later live - I told them I'm in love with Daisy as well. Jon came up to us right about that moment and he said he loves Daisy too! Unfortunately they don't play those two songs often enough in concert - so it'll be tough but he's gonna try to work something out anyway for the show tomorrow! ;D They hung around a bit while waiting for their transport/van and I just had an awesome time talking and getting a few pictures with them. Drew signed my poster and CD and he told me that it's his first signature here so he wrote : #1 in KL. Haha these guys are awesome. I gave Tim a letter and he said he'll read in the car later. Hah. Romey was rather shy though but I talked about the Philippines show with him for a short while. He opened up a l ittle more after that. He says he's excited to play in this region Sigh. And I haven't even seen them perform live yet! Tomorrow's going to be another long amazing day. I can't hardly wait. Also, do you guys have any idea as to what I should write in the banner?

To quote a Switchfoot lyric, "In all my life I don't know if I've ever felt so alive" Possibly one of the best concerts I've ever been to. It wasn't just because of Switchfoot's stellar performance that night, but the fans and new friends that I got to make because of Switchfoot. Switchfoot strut their stuff on stage exactly how I would love to watch them live, and the fan turnout was unbelievable. I read from somewhere that there were about 2,000 people packed into that small hall but I'm pretty sure the crowd sounded like a strong 10,000 people instead. The energy from the crowd was just amazing, I think Switchfoot themselves were surprised with all that love the fans were channeling towards them. A little too much screaming however - but ah, you can't escape fangirls in a concert, can you? I'm just going to summarize and make this short and sweet. These are the few highlights from that night (with links to several videos taken by several amazing people): - When Switchfoot first got on stage, they played a teaser of Meant To Live. I got so excited right at that moment I thought my head was going to explode. And then Jon said, " Mari kita rock sungguh-sungguh!" which indirectly translates to = let's rock our hearts out. Then I collapsed. And died. That wasn't even song #1. - In the middle of American Dream, all of the sudden they just froze on stage. I still have no idea how these guys could stay so still with all the cameras flashing. Surely, they were once trained to be the Queen's footsoldiers in Buckingham Palace? Two minutes or so later everyone came back to live again and totally rocked out the last bit of American Dream. - "Is it true that this is our first time here?! So where have you guys been all our lives?" Jon quipped right before the five of them jammed to the intro of We Are One Tonight. Totally made my night. - During On Fire, Jon ran towards the crowd and out of nowhere he started singing, "Don't leave me high... Don't leave me dry" and I nearly melted at that spot I'm telling you. Incorporating Radiohead to one of your most well known sing along songs? Brilliant. - Jon showing off all that family/brotherly love towards Tim. He even hugged/put an arm around Tim during This Is Your Life. Adorable! - Crazy In Love cover! I swear, Switchfoot has made me love Beyoncé to a certain extent. Plus, Jon even randomly went "ella ella ella!" in the middle of performing Gone. This video is a must watch. - Dare You To Move. I never thought this could happen (I figured only a Lifehouse concert could make me cry!), but during the last song of the night, I seriously got rather teary eyed. Now, DYTM is not exactly my absolute favourite song from them (!) - however, Jon gave an extremely uplifting speech concerning how we find release in music and I guess the whole idea of hearing the crowd singing along the first verse with him on his acoustic and Romey/Chad/Tim/Drew joining in later... It was. Just. Perfect. I didn’t want them to leave the stage at all. I guess the best part of this concert was being able to talk to so many people that shared a common interest with me regarding music. No doubt we were strangers to begin with, but it’s simply amazing how we were able to bond so quickly just by talking over about the Switchfoot gig. I think it’s safe to say that Switchfoot came and rocked KL hard leaving fans very contented. Hell, they even took time to have a meet and greet session after the concert. I’m sure they were exhausted since they went surfing earlier that day. Jon even recognized me from the airport when I stood at the side during M&G and he gave me a small wave – only to find him coming up to me later after the session to compliment on my banner I'll try my best to post pictures (not taken by me however) in the next post. A few shots taken by several photographers present there are simply fabulous. Anyway, managed to get Tim's set list for the night. Here's what they played last Saturday: Intro - Meant To Live Oh! Gravity Stars Politicians This Is Your Life Lonely Nation We Are One Tonight/The Shadow Proves The Sunshine Only Hope Learning To BreatheCrazy In Love/Gone/Umbrella American Dream Dirty Second Hands On Fire/High and Dry Awakening Meant To Live ENCORE Dare You To Move No Chem 6A, Daisy, Sooner or Later etc. but I'm certainly not complaining! They've already took the time to come all the way to this part of the world to perform for us. Here's hoping somehow Lifehouse would do the same some day!

^ They're touring with Athlete in Spring! Gosh, I would love to see Switchfoot and Athlete play in the same stage. And yeah, I was really surprised to find fans queueing up as early as 1pm the other day (doors only opened at 6:30pm and Switchfoot came on about 8:30pm). That's dedication I tell ya! ------- Wow great review! I got all withdrawl-y reading it and watching the vids! Your review is kinda similar to mine (although yours is WAY shorter haha) LOL at Jon singing 'Malaysian dream' at the end of American Dream ;D Can't wait to see your pics!! (and for them to come over to Europe again...) Lol I have no idea how mine turned out so short - I have a lot more to add honestly! Hehe. This is my Malaysian Dream. I loved that bit too. And I love how he kept emphasizing that even with all these land and ocean that is between Malaysia and San Diego, we're still able to sing along to every word of their song! ;D I notice that Tim doesn't respond much to the crowd. I had the honour of watching him work his bass up front - and I guess I understand why he's so quiet. There are about 96477603284 fan girls that won't stop calling screaming for him. Anyway, I'll just let the pictures do the talking. Most of these pictures are not taken by me, but by my friends and the awesome people over at Creative Clicks. I was too absorbed with the concert I couldn't really hold a camera... Jon's certainly not going to last long wearing like that in the hot and humid weather (eventhough the hall was air-conditioned) Neither is Tim... And Drew. Romey He was at war with local food earlier that day. No spicy food for him I guess. Haha. No wonder he appeared shy in the airport - he wasn't feeling very well! Chad! More to come!

Okay.. I think I'm getting a wee bit carried away here with the pictures. This is the last bit of it, I promise! Well, when Jon came back for the encore, he wore this shirt that said, "I <3 KL" ;D Then he proceeded to changing his acoustic to electric... And in comes the rest of the band members! All good things must come to an end however... but they can't leave the stage without a standing ovation! I hope they had fun - as much as I enjoyed myself watching them perform song after song with much enthusiasm! The aftermath of the concert went by rather quickly. I was drenched in other people's sweat so I looked like a complete mess. I went around parading my banner but wait, that's not me! But yeah... The banner managed to catch Jon's attention - probably because Drew started reading off from my shirt "Don't stop the roooockkk" the day before at the airport. He made a few of them laugh. And eventhough I didn't compliment them on their amazing gig that night, I think they pretty much know that every single person there inside the hall went to bed that night with "salvation is heeerreee" ringing in their ears
