basically there is the official board and this board and the Hanging by a Moment website/board. All these places have a number of people posting, and I think there's quite an overlap for all 3 of them. We used to have several other boards (and I'm sure there still are some out there that I don't know of or that I forgot about, no harm meant). LifehouseFans was sort of semi-official since the band used to check in there every so often (not sure how often they did at the end of its existence though), and it was by far the most popular and most visited lifehouse (fan) website. Especially after the DreamWorks board went down. But then LHF went down and in the past it had been in maintenance and got overcrowded several times, so myself and a few other people had made this, sort of a mix between the LHF board and the also quite popular former board of SickCycle.Net, to come to, sort of as an addition to LHF for when we needed a fix when LHF was down or when we wanted to just hang out. I never really advertized for this board, since I felt LHF and the official site were the websites/boards to go to. This was more of a board that people would hear through on LHF, from other members, so that if anything was going on with LHF we had a backup.
Then LHF went down, and people went to the official board, and to HBAM site/board as it had just been advertized on LHF and the official board, and people who heard about this board came here. HBAM has more members, and is set up quite well, and there's been some unfortunate rivalry between the two boards. I can't honestly say anything about how it is like on the other board though because I've only been there for a short while and I wasn't really welcome, which was partly my own fault, I've said some things about them that they considered offensive. But I assume things are nice on there as well. I enjoy it here because I always feel like it's a warm and welcoming board, a family if you will. I know there are people who disagree with that, and they can, but it doesn't change the way I feel about this.
This board was always meant as a temporary solution until either LHF came back one way or another or until Eric & Erica worked out a new forum. The communication between them is kind of a struggle so that hasn't happened (yet), so we're still here. Will we stay here, we'll see if anything will ever happen. But for now, I think we have a good thing going on here, and I am glad to see that so many people with similar interests and critical minds are getting along over here. It makes me feel proud of my LH family, hehe!

I wasn't even aware that there currently any other boards, lol. Where are the official and hbam boards located? I would assume the official one would be on their website...but either it isn't or I'm just blind and haven't noticed it. And isn't this the only board the mentioned on their website under that links page? Again, maybe there's another one I didn't notice...
I don't know that I'd go to either of the other two boards anyway, though, unless they are really great. I really like this one. ;D

i remember being so happy when i found you guys over here. i didn't even know about this board before lhf went down but thankfully someone included the link in a post on the official boards. i had only been on lhf for a few months before it went down but i was still pretty upset. i thought things were looking hopeful for awhile for a lhf comeback (maybe it's still possible), especially since erica seemed so optimistic at the milwaukee show. but until that day i am more than happy here ;D.
oh yeah, i checked out that hanging by a moment board once before. regardless of whose fault it was that things got a little nasty, after i saw some of those things they said to koen i decided not to join. somehow i just didn't get that happy family feel i get here.

I've pretty much lost hope for LHfans.. but I'm happy here - we've gotten used to it and it's home now. Anyways, there's a list on HBAM of why they hate us?! Haha I would love to read that - can someone get it? I can't imagine someone fighting with Koen - he's always so damn diplomatic  |

i was never on LHF...i i found this place while lurking on the official forums (i really didn't care for it) right after LHF went down, and koen posted a link over here. i lurked for a little bit then finally just started posting.
i've gone over to HBAM and i didn't like the vibe there. meh. and i want to see that list too, lol.

Secondly, last week I read through some of the drama that happened on this board last summer -- I was extremely impressed with Koen's diplomacy and sincere effort to answer in as kind a way as possible, given the 4-post attack of this board and its members -- Kudos to Jade for locking the thread. And, we should not re-open it (thread or details). The point is that Koen's good actions stood out here. I was floored and impressed as I read his detailed response. Third, recently I went to the HBAM site just to see what was up. I belonged to that site before I even knew B-Sides existed (once I found B-sides -- it felt warm and fuzzy here so I never left this board;D). HBAM is a ghost town. Best I could tell, there have been only two post in 2008, and only 7 posts in December. The point is -- during that visit, I read an attack on Koen that was amazingly vicous, and given the venom that was so evident in at least that one instance -- for ME (I am not speaking for anyone else) the mood was very BLACK there and not for me. I am sure there are good people back there somewhere, but it put me in a very BLACK mood. So, I do not know all the drama from the past and don't really want to know, but what I DO know for sure -- I enjoy it here and respect you all for being kind, intelligent and enthusiastic participants in life -- I can see that clearly in only three months. |

The list got lost when their server went down a few months ago (oh, and I just logged on to check, and the forum still works, it's the main site that is down for renovations). But basically, someone said something like asking why they hated LHF, and someone was like, "you mean the people that..." and then made this huge list of all the things they don't like about LHF or the people at LHF. After I saw the list, I was kind of disgusted and offended (I wasn't even really that active at LHF, cause like I said, i was a big lurker), so I stopped visiting it. (and the next time that i went back, I saw the thing with Koen, and didn't go back lol). But I don't mean to be negative or "talk bad" about people. Their board had some positives. It was very organized, they had some cool pics I never saw before, very talented artists who made cool icons/walls, and the people did seem to be friends with each other (I didn't post much, so I didn't really interact with anyone) But, if we just keep talking about them, we're just as bad as the people who talked about LHF, so to get back on topic: I think Koen deserves an award (or at least a really big cookie) for giving us someplace to go to talk about LH  <--- woot woot, 800th post. Hope no one is sick of all my comments  |

So, I do not know all the drama from the past and don't really want to know, but what I DO know for sure -- I enjoy it here and respect you all for being kind, intelligent and enthusiastic participants in life -- I can see that clearly in only three months. Karen, you are so sweet :-) Kind words like that are so nice to hear after some of the things we've been called in the past! We're glad you're here! (and be glad you missed some of the drama in the past, haha) I do still miss LHF... I was on that board SO much. I just haven't posted as much here, it's been such a busy school year. I'm trying to get back into it though, since this is pretty much our new home. Good times. |
