Another track this week titled "Polaroids". It's a pretty good track but a departure from songs like Crash to the Middle and Ode to Silence. The lyrics are fantastic IMO. I really like the opening line on the verses ("Out across my mind") as a canvas for which he looks back at moments ("Polaroids") in life.
Lyrics below but I'm not sure about two things so hopefully someone can help!
Verse 2: sounds like "chases" but the word feels out of place) Chorus: "noone could never take that from us" - never or ever? I swear I hear an "n".
-------------------------
Out across my mind there are places Like polaroids scattered throughout the sky I lost a lot of time trying to erase this The feeling that I couldn't shake inside You never looked away
There's no one in this world who knows me better The parts of me that only you could love And if we lose it all we have each other And noone could never take that from us
Out across my mind there are chances Like polaroids from years just passing by Walked a lot of miles in broken laces We didn't always see eye to eye We never looked away
There's no one in this world who knows me better The parts of me that only you could love And if we lose it all we have each other And noone could never take that from us
Out across my mind there are faces Like polaroids caught under a landslide And yours is the one that always amazes I never wondered if you weren't on my side You never looked away
There's no one in this world Who knows me better The parts of me that only you could love And if we lose it all we have each other And noone could never take that from us And noone could never take that from us

I hear the same three things you do — thinking that the chorus like is ‘no one can ever’, rather than ‘no one could never’… Jason ain’t no mistaken-double-negative writer now The chances/laces rhyme is odd, but it makes more sense than “chases” so maybe that’s right? Either way, pretty little tune. Feel like I already know this song even when hearing it for the first time, so it’s kinda cozy. Wonder whether O2S will be released before the year ends?

Another new O2S song, “Can’t Be You” — nice little ditty that feels more folky/country, in the same vein as Crash to the Middle. Kinda muddy production, and currently trying to unpack what the main message of the lyric is but it’s pleasant to hear!

Yeah, I've given it a few listens today and it's not bad. Crash to the Middle is still my favorite so far though

Jason just announced on his Spotify that Ode to Silence drops Dec 31, New Year's Eve!! Very excited for this one – possibly my favourite batch of songs I've heard from him since Out of the Wasteland, though trying not to put too much pressure on it

I was just wondering if he was going to do that since he didn’t release a new single last week with the Øzwald release. Super excited!

New album is out in a few hours but is already available in some countries. Sadly, "Leonard Cohen Nights" and "I'm Still Here (Chernobyl)" are not on the album. I was personally looking forward to these two, especially "I'm Still Here (Chernobyl)" but hopefully they'll get released at some point.
Here's the track list:
1. A Think Piece 2. Crash to the Middle 3. Time Machine 4. Ode to Silence 5. One of These Days 6. Polaroids 7. The Way That You Remember Me 8. Can't Be You 9. Windows 10. After the Deluge
The only tracks that haven't been released yet are "The Way That You Remember Me" and "Windows". Artwork is also the same as the "Ode to Silence" single.

Exciting!! Totally didn't expect to end with After the Deluge... that's an interesting choice. That epic solo is responsible for closing the entire album then!
The Way That You Remember Me was a single Jason released in April 2020, so it's likely the oldest song from this album. Beautiful song that fits right in with this group. Can't wait to hear Windows, and too bad that the two songs with the most unique titles didn't make it. Wonder if we'll ever hear those two one day?
EDIT: WOW just came across a preview for Windows on iTunes UK... I suspect this will be everyone's favourite. Pure vocals like Crash to the Middle, very vulnerable little acoustic song just like the original Wish, Winds of Change, etc... Jason mentioned Gregory Alan Isakov as being an inspiration for this album and this song makes that obvious. 5:19 length makes it the longest song he's ever recorded outside of Lifehouse. Cannot wait!!!
