New song called Time Machine out! More folky sound, a fair bit of string instrumentation. Strings are what stood out to me. They’re fantastic. I’m not sure where I’m at with these new solo tunes yet. Steve really pumped the album up on Instagram a month or so again and I’m not sure it’s to the level he pumped it up to be yet. Yeah I'm curious to hear everything together. Wondering if it'll be a concept album or not – so far we have these song titles: - Ode to Silence
- Leonard Cohen Nights
- I'm Still Here (Chernobyl)
- One of These Days
- A Think Piece
- Time Machine
That leaves four titles left, so we'll see.
Time Machine is an awfully lovely song... they feel different from the Ozwald songs, although much of the instrumentation and production is the same (and as recently has become usual, the mixing/mastering), due to Jason's voice and him writing the songs on his own. A little bit more introspective, which is his calling card. The longer lengths of these songs has been nice to see (Think Piece is almost five minutes). I think so far One of These Days is my favourite of the three, and a really nice intro to this era of songs. He could've gone for something bigger and bolder but it's telling to begin with something particularly emotional and spacious.

I dig it so far. I don't want to get too into it all yet, but what we have so far is cohesive and nice to listen to when I'm in a mellow mood. I also feel like a redone version of Winds of Change could fit really well in this mix. One can only wish though.

These aren’t songs of vulnerability so much as perspective, and Winds always felt to me like a ‘wise’ song.

Really curious to see how Chernobyl and Ode to Silence sounds like. I really like the line - Indifference is another shape of violence

New song out today — “After the Deluge”. Gives me Everyone Is Someone vibes sonically, but the lyrics are a lot more biting and ironic/reflective. Quite a cool guitar solo too, something new for a solo J song. Pretty sure we’ve now heard six out of ten tracks, since The Way You Remember Me is slated to be on it according to Steve.

Like the LH album, I think he will release all songs one at the time as singles. Maybe this is good for the ALLSWELL make more money, IDK. So this song is far better than Ode and Time Machine.

I'm curious about this too, and am looking to Øzwald's releases for some sign. So far, Sweet Delirium had three singles before release (Tech Sky, Dream Child, and Crow Flies), Born In A State had two (Wasting Time & Worth the Wait), Head Movies had two (Manzanita and the title track), For Polly Anna had six, and Young Suburban Minds had nine, which were in the same order as the album. I kind of feel like it's anybody's guess here, both with Lifehouse and J's solo music... I do think that when Lifehouse releases their album that it won't be in the same order they've released these songs, which suggests that they won't release the whole album one by one and instead do a larger drop at some point with the rest of the songs. Ode could be being released in tracklist order so far, but it's possible it's not too. I highly doubt that Lifehouse will have Dragonflies as the second track of whatever they do next though, so I'm kinda banking on that fact in speculating the next release (or one after) will complete this project.

Surprise new song: Crash to the Middle. This is a country song all the way through, far better than Highways & Low Days stuff that it’s closest to. I like it, nice little ditty.

Yeah, this is easily one of my favorites so far (clean vocals!). Has a very "John Moreland" vibe IMO. Transcribed the lyrics best I could. Let me know if something's off. "Crash to the Middle" by Jason Wade Crash to the middle Let 'em play you like a fiddle And you're only here for the ride Now they got you tongue tied Now they got you tongue tied Flash to the moment When it hurts yeah you know it And you can't find the silver line You're waiting on a sunrise Yeah, you're waiting for a sunrise Yeah you left what feels right And your highs just slow down Look me up when you crash to the middle ground Crash to the middle And it feels like a riddle There's no reason or rhyme Yeah, nobody knows why Nobody knows why Flash to the moment Made the world your opponent Now you're running out of time Keep swinging in the rip tides Keep swinging in the rip tides Yeah you left what feels right And your highs just slow down Look me up when you crash to the middle ground Crash to the middle Let 'em play you like a fiddle And you're only here for the ride Now they got you tongue tied Now they got you tongue tied Yeah you left what feels right And your highs just slow down Look me up when you crash to the middle ground Yeah you left what feels right And your highs just slow down Look me up when you crash to the middle ground Look me up when you crash to the middle ground

Was just going back through his Instagram posts writing these lyrics down and noticed "I'm Still Here (Chernobyl)" says "JW LH" in the top right corner. So this may end up being a LH song which means we could be looking at another 3 tracks before this is fully out.

Very well could be then... funny that we never saw it at the time, since it was before Cut & Run so a Lifehouse release wasn't even on our radars. Anyone think he'll release the full album before the end of the year, or make it a 2022 record/

I'm digging Crash to the Middle. Glad to know Jason is still willing to make songs where his vocals are nice and clear!

Agreed. What's everyone's tracklist that they're listening to the album so far? I have this one, think it flows really nicely: - One of These Days
- Time Machine
- A Think Piece
- After the Deluge
- Ode to Silence
- Crash to the Middle

Crash is an odd one out on this set so far. To me it doesn't fit cohesively at all, but it's easily top 2 for me so far!
