Big news: the first single will be "Hurricane"!I had a hunch of this since finding out that list of new tracks, and a radio station spilled the beans during an online poll. It's legitimate too, as the band retweeted it!

Bryce mentioned in a Komox update that the new single will be out in February... I think it would be cool to release Hurricane on January 28th for download, on the 10 year anniversary of You and Me.

Hurricane is on the radio as of today! 103.7 KVIL aired it around noon today, and they claim they will be playing it fairly regularly. Keep your ears peeled! Anyone in the Dallas TX area, make sure to tune in on the radio, and US citizens can listen to the station here.

I heard it today. I'll see if I can get the lyrics for everyone.
Okay, here's what I got minus the "oohs". (I italicized the few words I wasn't sure about)
Turn the page Turn the corner Open the cage Cut the locks We’re starting over I don’t want to live this way
We made it through hell and back again We were slipping through the cracks staring at the end And we braved for the weather Hurricane couldn't take you from me I’m holding on tight as I still believe That it just gets better
A quiet rage A screaming silence It’s all around Let me in The world we built is Crashing down
We made it through hell and back again We were slipping through the cracks staring at the end And we braved for the weather Hurricane couldn't take you from me I’m holding on tight as I still believe That it just gets better It just gets better It just gets better
We made it through hell and back again We were slipping through the cracks staring at the end And we braved for the weather Hurricane couldn't take you from me I’m holding on tight as I still believe That it just gets better

I just found a link to listen to it online. I don't know if it's credible or if you guys deem this okay to post, but google search "lifehouse hurricane" and then filter results to only see what's been posted in the past 24 hours. Some site vk.com has it up.

Here's a 30s preview on SoundCloud, which is fair game. There'so also a full clip on YouTube. Sounds like a powerhouse of a song! Bryce's Komox influence is present in the bridge for sure... I'll have to reserve judgement until I hear it on some decent speakers.

I listened to it on youtube. It sounds good. I agree, I want to hear it through better speakers, But I like what I hear so far.

After listening to it a few times, I'm torn. The whole thing reminds me of Best of Me off Smoke & Mirrors, until they do this weird vacuum-esque synth sound effect in the bridge and it just goes all wrong. This one I'll have to spend some time getting used to... still, it seems like a solid radio track, so hopefully the rest of the album will be more reminiscent of Flight and this one went all-out for the radio. If it brings new people to Lifehouse, then I'm all for it!
PS: the lyric is "cut the locks", not "cut the hearts". Makes more sense this way!

Hmm didn't know you guys would be so against hearing the higher quality full song on the site I mentioned.
Anyway, I'm definitely torn too. But I don't hear Best of Me at all. If I were to compare it to an older Lifehouse song, I hear a song that could have been on the self-titled album but was never finished or forgotten about. But really what I hear is a song that was on mainstream circa 2002-2003 with songs from bands like Simple Plan, All American Rejects, Reliant K, and any other band of the time. This would have fit in perfectly on the countdown list that summer - Swing, Swing; Addicted; Hurricane. I don't know, just has that feel and sound to me.
Still a good song overall, though, and I still hope it's wildly successful for them!

I did listen to the full version on the site you suggested (thanks for that!) but it's still too low-fi to really make a final call just yet. I can't tell if those are rock drums or a synth dance beat during the chorus! I hear 2003 pop rock as well; "Thanks for tuning in, that was Welcome to My Life. Next up is a new song by Lifehouse..." Not sure about the self-titled, though I might pick up some Better Luck here and there.

Here's to hoping the rest of the album is good, though, and more like Flight!

Listened 3x... Not bad. Chorus sounds like something along the lines of "First Time" or "Halfway Gone". Real catchy pop rock, which they are the masters of. Sounds like something that would be released off of S&M or after S&M, almost pretending like "Almería" didn't happen Cant wait to hear the rest. Im not in love w/ the track, but its good.
