I really like the lyrics to Stretch. It's my favorite of his releases so far. Something about the delivery of the line "that smile is going to be the end of me" kills me (in a good way).

For some reason, the Penelopieces sample won't load on my phone, but the title sounds sooo interesting. I've been waiting to hear that song since we found the tracklist to Paper Cuts. I'm excited for it.

Penelopieces could fit perfectly on Figure 8 and especially XO from Elliott Smith. The 3/4 waltz reminds me of Waltz #1


This is, without question, the most obvious the Elliott influence had bled through with Jason. It's a really good song. I enjoy the production on it more than some of the others, but it's not perfect. Bring on whatever is next.

I love penelopieces as a song on its own...with the production here not so much...it's too full for me. too..hmm..artificial even maybe? live i can imagine it being gorgeous

I just checked out XO from Elliot Smith that Jason says inspired him and the verses of Sweet Adeline sound very similar to Goodbye. Hope that ones next 😀

Waltz #1 reminds me of Learn You Inside Out a little bit.

It's interesting how in Jason's description he writes the title with two Ls, like the cover art LHFanMI found in 2013. The official version (and album art) are with one.
Jason on Penelopieces:

"Penellopieces" is a song I wrote with my buddy "E" a long time ago. We wrote a lot of songs that were more fictitious stories. This was one of them. It was always one of my favorites. Elliott Smith was always a huge inspiration for me and I think musically it shows on this song. I use to have this beat up dodge pickup up truck when I was a teenager, it was super funky. It did this thing where when you would turn the windshield wipers on, it would skip the cd to the next song. Anyways, Braeds and I use to drive for hours listening to Elliott Smith XO in that truck. Wore that record out. It's amazing how music can transport you back to a time and place in a few seconds. For some reason when I hear this song I feel 17 again sitting in that truck.
