At least the Mutemath VIP was cheap - I think $49 - AND the first in line pass was for ALL of the shows on the tour. For that price, you also got the CD, a t-shirt, a poster, and a ticket to one show, so it was really worth more than the cost. However, we had unresolved guilt feelings about the whole first in line thing and made sure that we were REALLY the first ones at the venue for the three shows we went to. That way we earned our spots, as well as paying for them.
My sister and I just saw Guster at Lincoln Park Zoo and I bought a zoo membership, just so we could go in 15 minutes early. BUT, the membership cost $45 and I got two free parking passes (value $60), reduced parking of $7 after I've used the free parking, and the concert tickets cost me $4 less. BUT, we were in line 3 hours before anyone else showed up, just because I didn't want to take unfair advantage.
I will always think that the first person in line should be the first person in the venue - no exceptions. That's one reason I don't like it when people cut in line. If I line up 3rd, I should be 3rd in, not 7th or 8th because the front two let all of their friends sneak in line with them. That being said, if I KNOW that there are going to be problems because of early entries, I'll do whatever I can to enhance my own chances. I will NOT pay $169, though! I'm just too cheap. I like front because I'm short and claustrophobic. There's no way I'd pay extra in a seated venue. My height isn't so important there, since most floors are slanted, and I have separation from the people near me. If I knew VIP was going to happen in a GA venue, then I'd be tempted to do balcony seats or sit at the tables some venues have on raised platforms to the side.
I wonder what Lifehouse really thinks about this. It sounds like they talked to other artists while they were on tour and thought "what a cool idea", hired some company to put together the package and publicize it, THEN Lifehouse gets the details. I guess the way to make your feelings known is with your money - don't buy the package and, since you know which shows are going to be messed up, don't go to those particular shows.
I wonder if this is going to happen in Chicago, since tickets aren't on sale yet. I hope not.

there's gotta be more dates coming. they never skip ohio. and if they do, i'm going to be very ticked off with you! I hope you're right. I was hoping for Cleveland, Columbus and Pittsburgh. As it is I'm just going to make it to the DC show.

I love the VIP thing. And compared to some bands I've seen, $169 is more than reasonable. My only complaint is that for that price you should be guaranteed that at least one band member shows up. That's they way I've seen it done in the past. I understand what everyone is saying about unfair advantage but I have another point of view. I WAS first in line for the Nebraska State Fair. But once they open the doors and people are RUNNING to the front it is not fair to us....em....shall we say slightly older fans that may not be as quick as we were in our youth!! lol So there are advantages to each method. Having said all that, I did not do VIP for DC only because the best seat that came up was 6th row and with no guarantee of meeting the band it wasn't worth the risk for me. Now once the shows start and I start hearing how the VIPs go and if the band shows up then I might change my mind for future shows.

sorry but just because other bands charge more money doesn't make $169 reasonable. just saying.

I just put all the fall headlining dates in the first post of the Tour Dates 2010 -- just so they live permanently with the other 2010 dates. We will post all updates to the schedule in that list. Also, for anyone considering the Oklahoma show on 10/30, the city was originally posted on LH's myspace as Norman, OK, but has now been corrected to Grant, OK. We confirmed that the concert is at the Grant, OK venue.

Man, I wish I knew what was going on with this Chicago show. I am REALLY hoping they don't sneak Chicago into the VIP listing lol. If they do I will be so very tempted to buy it, but I'd have to pay for 1.5 VIP's plus most likely part of a 3rd since one person I'm going with wouldn't pay for more than a regular ticket price and I don't know if the other is willing to pay for the whole thing. If I wanted to sit up there and didn't pay the rest for that person, they would just refuse to go and make me feel guilty about it. lol. Plus getting there early, however early the party is, might be an issue. And knowing my luck none of the guys would show up lol.
Don't they usually have radio station stuff going on some of the time? Might interfere. I don't know.

(but only if you get to meet the band...if not...I'm with you!!) i have no idea why a meet and greet is not included in the deal, that just seems like common sense to me. at the same time though i'm still not sure i'd be willing to pay for something i've been getting for (mostly) free for the past 5 years. i have paid to meet them a couple times, but only the cost of a cd. i guess i've become spoiled by following independent bands who will bend over backwards to thank their fans. mostly i'm just really sad that the era of meeting the band out by the bus seems to be disappearing and this VIP deal has seemed to further add to their inaccessibility (first the bus parking lot chats went, now my front row spot). hopefully i'm wrong. that being said, if i won $169 tomorrow that'd be the first thing i'd buy. and i guess the only thing. that probably makes me a hypocrite and i don't care. i'm too cheap to buy it otherwise but if you've got the money by all means do it! i'll rely on my running legs for one more tour and hope they can salvage me a good spot .
