Prince Harry is my hero. Sucks that the Drudge Report fucking ruined it for him. I actually respect what he's doing, proud of him for doing it, and I think he's proven to be better than royality for putting it all out on the line. The son of our Mayor is in Iraq now serving and I'm proud of him too.
Just wanted to put that out there.

I think it's good that he serves his country and that it's stupid that someone leaked his presence there (though I think it's quite impossible to keep that quiet for too long, people talk, that's just how it works, even in the military) but I do think the media make too big of a deal about him being in Afghanistan. Just because he's royalty. I don't care that he's royalty, I'm proud of him for serving his country and serving the good cause, but not because he is a prince that does all those things, but because he is a human being that does all those things. My country has a royal family too, and though I must admit it sometimes provides good headlines and it's a charismatic 'picture' I still think royal families are outdated and not of this time. It's all a symbolic function anyway. I think it's great what he's doing but not more or less than Joe Average who's there fighting the Taliban.

That's why he wanted to go. He did it to serve his country and not for frame gain. His safety and the safety of his fellow soliders were put in danger once the report come out, which is why he had to leave, so for him to risk putting a direct target on his life just to serves his country makes him better than royality.

I know, I wasn't criticizing him, I was criticizing the media for making it big BECAUSE he is royalty. That annoys me. I wish they would focus on him as a person not as a rarity/novelty. And if he goes to the front it's Breaking News, if my neighbour goes, no one cares. That's kind of the point I'm making.

You know, this reminds me of something Adam Levine said on a radio interview here. The dj asked why weren't they in magazines more and he said that because they aren't out doing drug or sleeping with whores. Which is true because you're not TMZ,sgetting chased around, unless you're drunk, fighting, or sleeping with the latest whore. So I'll give the media credit for reporting on this because they show him in a positive light. Something that we all can respect.

You have a good point. And I don't think they should NOT report, I just think they shouldn't make this bigger than anyone else who's serving his or her country. Just because Harry's born with blue blood. On the other hand, that wasn't his choice either. And these things do turn the attention towards the general issue, so I guess it's not all bad, hehe.

There is this thing called Operational Security (OPSEC) and the media thinks that they do not have to abide by it. Not only does it put a target on him and those in his unit, but it puts a target on all of the troops there, no matter where they are from because if the bad guys know he's there, they may focus their attention a little bit more in that country than they would have otherwise.
