Tonsillitis are no fun. Even more so during festive season - celebrating Chinese New Year here, you see But hell, I can't help but binge on homemade cookies and chilled mandarin oranges! Any remedies to cure a sore throat? I've even tried eating Manuka honey but it still doesn't work

Ok guys and girls -- this isn't so random, but I didn't want to make a separate thread for this.
At the end of the year I mentioned what a rough year 2007 had been because my mother had been ill...what I didn't bother to trouble you with at the time is that her kidneys failed last year and she has been on dialysis after 4 hospital stays, totaling about 7 weeks in the hospital until they figured out in July what was wrong with her.
In any case, she just got on the transplant list; but was told that there was little hope of her getting a kidney, because her body has developed antibodies to 99% of all tissue types (probably caused by all of the blood transfusions that she received last year).
She just called me to say that the hospital called her and told her to get there immediately so that they could do blood labwork. They have a kidney coming available soon that might be a good match for her (even with all the antibodies that she has developed). Don't know what that means exactly. This process is very new to me, so it could be a false alarm....................
Here is my request of you: Will you pray and/or send all the positive energy that you can her direction, and hope for the BEST OUTCOME -- whatever that is.
THANK YOU! Karen
P.S. Tomorrow, the 8th, is her 66th birthday! What a present that would be.........oh no, a thought just came to mind...I do not have a gift for her because all she will tell me is that all she wants is for her kidneys to function, and that she needs nothing else. She may get her wish ON her birthday. How cool would that be!

I'll definitely pray for her & send all of my positive energy her way...hope it all works out.
....Now my first week of school was good, not much homework well until today, which is probably what I should be doing right now hehe, but the great thing is that I'm going to the beach for the weekend!! and I wish I could go for more than 3 days but that's better than nothing and on Monday: no school yay!!!!!

I hope all works out for your mother!!
Haha, i just found out I made the Senior Hall of Fame at my high school... which I find funny since there are people that are soo much more active in school than me that didn't make it or even nominated.

Thank you Liz, Yuliya and Klein.
We are just waiting for a call. We could get a call either tonight or in the morning to know if she will get the kidney. Evidently the donor is on life support and they will finish tests on the donor and conclude the potential recipient matching tonight.

Thank you Katelyn and Maureen for your sweet comments last night.
We just got the call reporting that the kidney is NOT viable because in the overnight testing they found that the donor has Hepatitis B.
This is Okay...the wonderful thing about all of this is that this process over the last 24 hours has given my Mom HOPE that finding a viable donor IS possible even though her body is resistent to so many of the possible donor antigens.
Waiting on a miracle!
THANK YOU all for your thoughts and prayers. I was a bit reluctant to post yesterday afternoon, but figured the more people on her file the better.

I'm so sorry to hear that about your mom Karen. I'll keep her in my thoughts and prayers And it's great that she still has hope, I know how hard it is to have still hope after such a long and hard time.
