I don't think its possible to get songs from your ipod onto your computer. I think you can only take songs from your computer and put them on an ipod. But someone correct me if I'm wrong.

It's possible, but it's kinda complicated to explain. But you need iTunes 7. And you need to set your iPod to the right settings (to use it as an external HD). I would just google for it, there's probably easy tutorials/explanations available.

I downloaded something called "EphPod" and it worked very nicely and was easy to use. If you go to google and type that in; it should show up. You'll lose all your ratings / listens for each song though... but I don't know if there's a way to get around that.

^There's no way to get around that. At least the same happened with my songs.

yeah it's a pretty dumb situation... but I assume it's supposed to protect the music. Good luck!

wow cool! ive been finding a way to do that. my husband reformatted my drive, backing up ALMOST everything. and he had to leave out the one important thing, my itunes playlist!!! i already have about 2 thousand songs in there. it would be a pain to reconstruct my playlist though... and i don't feel like doing that so for awhile now i haven't updated my ipod. thank god my songs are all backed up.
