A handful of you know that late Friday evening, a good friend of mine (someone I've known since our days in the womb, and someone whose apartment is a mere 4 doors away from my own) was in a pretty bad car accident. We soon found out that we was pretty roughed up, but all in all, he was going to be okay. It was gonna take a little time, but there was no doubt that he'd be fine. The only question remaining was how many days until he could have non-family visitors.
In the very early Wednesday morning hours, Pete's condition changed in almost an instant and he was gone.
Pete touched so many lives, and so many people loved him, and so many of us are hurting so badly right now, but my request isn't for us. His mother Brenda has lost her own mother, her husband, and now her only child within just 7 years time. I can't even begin to imagine the pain she's struggling with right now, so please, just take a moment and send your thoughts/prayers/good vibes--whatever you've got, her way. Thank you.

I was reading what you posted and I'm like, wth. I'll definitely send whatever good vibes I have that way. Trust me, that's pretty much the sentiment we're all feeling right now. I think there's always this surreal feeling when you lose someone, but it's really at an extreme this time. I can't tell you how many times in the past 24 hours someone has said, "He was fine..." paired with this really confused shrug. Basically, in addition to the broken bones he had, he experienced some head trauma and his brain had swollen. 16 is normal, 30 is severe, and he was hovering in the 20s. They were concerned, but it was a normal enough situation to be remedied simply. By Monday the swelling was going down and they weren't concerned about that anymore. Wednesday morning, almost within a matter of moments, that number that had slowly been dropping jumped well past 125....last I was told, the doctors were saying it was most likely caused by an unseen blood clot and there was nothing that could've been done. Thank you guys, and please continue. Most of us are in a state of disbelief, but I know that'll change tomorrow when we see him.
