LMFAO, I have never *never* in my 2 years here, heard a local person say "y'all." St. Louisans speak with a very distinctive accent, but it's not southern....more like a midwest meets New Orleans accent. Very hard to describe. It's always fun going to Georgia or Alabama, where Stephen's family lives, because the accents down there drive me nuts. I can't stand stopping anywhere where we might have to converse with an actual person. Southern twang gets on my dang nerves!

That's what I meant - "y'all" with a southern accent.

LOL Lisa, just because we don't sound nasal and snotty when we pronounce a word with an A or an O in it doesn't mean we have southern accents Poor Krispy Kreme, won't someone vote for it

We do not!! I've actually lived all over the state....north, central (between I-80 and I-64) and south (south of I-64) and I can tell where someone hails from just from when they open their mouth! Central Illinoisans have weird words too, like "wallago" and they call a vaccuum cleaner a "sweeper." I love dialects and colloquial (is that the right word) terms! But back to donuts, I've established that I love Dunkin Donuts, but has anyone tried Kroger donuts, if you have one where you live? Man, I could get so fat off of those. You Southerners really love your Kroger! My roommate is from Peoria and seriously Kroger comes up in every conversation we have about anything, lol. Is that like the mother of all supermarkets down there?

No Katie, but it's the only decent grocery store. Much cheaper than Schnucks or Dierbergs. I can shop at Wal-Mart's even-cheaper-than-Kroger evil empire now, which suits me fine since there's not Kroger near St. Louis

You know you live in Illinois when you go to a corn maze on Friday night for fun ;D No, that's when you know you live in Illinois, but don't live in Chicago because half of the people here have never even seen a corn field And you don't have a St. Louis accent. It's just a regular one Like I don't have a Chicago accent, but I do have a westside accent

^LOL that's why I said "Illinois".....Chicago is NOT part of Illinois, it is it's own state (figuratively speaking)
