I know this is super random, but I can’t talk about this on Facebook or Twitter. So, when I was 21 my mom told me that my dad wasn’t my biological father, and that my dad didn’t know I wasn’t his biological daughter. It was mind blowing news and I had this major identity crisis. Well, a year after learning the news, I found my biological father and I contacted him. He confirmed the news and said he knew about me the entire time but didn’t want children. Now fast forward 8 years. I’m now 30, and both of my parents have since passed away. I decided it’s been a year and a half since my mom died, so I contacted bio-Dad for the second time. I informed him of my parents passing and he told me he had a brother who passed away in 2010. He also insisted he did not want to meet me. I’ve been trying to find other members of his family so I can learn more about my genealogy and family medical history (I’ve been in and out of the hospital a lot this year). He mentioned his deceased brother and from there I was able to google his obituary. I love the internet! I found my first cousin, Cassie and she and I met in person last Tuesday. She provided me with so much information and come to find out, my grandfather was from Bulgaria. Pretty exciting stuff happening right now. To top it all off, Cassie and I almost look identical! I’m meeting all of my other first cousins on October 13th and none of them know about me. Should be very interesting. Thanks for letting me share. My dad’s family still has no idea I’m not biologically related, and I plan to keep it a secret for a while longer.

That's really cool of you to take initiative like that with your cousins. You seem really strong with everything you've been through. Sending prayers and good vibes your way!
(I'm Lauren, we talked to each other a while in the lobby at the Westlake,Oh show).
