Last year you guys from USA saw the Looking For Summer tour that was an amazing momment uniting two of my favorite bands. But I was thinking about one thing... The Switchfoot guys really know how to use their social media to engage the fans even in their pause they never stop connecting in some way. And when I look to Lifehouse I can't see it. They told in an interview that they are doing a new album, but in live shows they don't play any of the new songs even for tests, or post something to create a concept to engage more fans in their new project. They don't do nothing. Could this be one of the things that block them from more success? 'Cause the songs are good, but nobody cares if the artist doesn't connect, like Switchfoot do.

Aside from the Who We Are record, the band has never road tested new songs. They did on the NNF tour but only Take Me Away made the album. Also, the Who We Are songs being premiered were part of a promo tour leading up to the album release. A lot of bands don’t preview or test new songs because they haven’t done them in the studio where a producer might change it up a bit. Bands typically don’t like hearing how awesome the original version of a live song was years after a studio cut has been released. (Cough! Take Me Away and Broken! COUGH!)

There's a band called Hawk Nelson too. They tested songs, post some things on their social midia to engage the fans and the new album of them will probably be better than the last because of the engagemment of the fans. It's sad that Lifehouse don't worry with these things. Nathaniel Rateliff, NEEDTOBREATHE and so many other bands care about relate and connect with their fans... I really wish that Jason start to look at this point because if Lifehouse don't change a little their presence on social midia, they will be a tribute of themselves and just a ok passed band.

Lifehouse did those things with the self titled record. We got Midnight in Philadelphia and Better Part of Me. There was also a really short video of Come Back Down. Maybe the band feels that there wasn’t much participation from the fans on those. They absolutely need to be more active on social media during the down times. But if they don’t want to share studio updates or anything...that’s fine. Back in 2000, 2002, and 2005 CD sales were still a big chunk of the takehoke pay for the musicians. These days, it’s hard to come out ahead. Especially with how Lifehouse has a tendency to not make the same record twice, if a song got was put out that turned fans off to the sound...then their margin for error for turning a profit just got much slimmer. New albums are a means to go out and tour again. It keeps your hardcore fans happy. So, it’s awesome that those bands do it. I don’t see any of them blowing up the charts, though. It’s nice for the fans though. But Lifehouse did it and I’m sure, good or bad, there’s a reason they don’t do it anymore.

I get the feeling the band just doesn't care anymore about losing a few fans here and there due to inactivity. They will put out new music when they feel like it, and if people don't like the fact that they aren't very present on social media and stop following the band I think they don't care that much anymore. They are likely able to pay their bills with royalty checks from HBAM and Y&M alone. I guess at this point we can consider them semi-retired. I think their focus is now much more on family life and doing what they want to do (Bryce with his komox project, jason with co-writing for other artists, etc.) -- I think Lifehouse has become sort of a shared hobby between all of the band members that they continue to do but without all the time pressure of having to constantly pump out new material or the pressure to land #1 Radio hits and constantly having to tour or promote. I think the live shows are an other good example, the set list hasn't seen any major major changes in a long time. They switch out a couple songs here and there, but they mostly just play singles with the occasional random song from NNF thrown in, and it's been that way for years. I think we will never see a comeback to the more active days of NNF/Self-titled. I think we just need to accept that things have changed, doesn't mean it'll stop us from enjoying the new music when it comes out.

Switchfoot is on a hiatus and even then their social media presence is better than Lifehouse's..like...
But I agree with Klein in that it seems they don't care (not sure for what reason, but getting traffic on their social media definitely is not priority number one, or 500:p)
