So those fans who are not following the social media are not considered as fans?

escalibur I agree for most parts with your review..for me it has a couple cool songs, for instance one for the pain. but it doesn't feel like a whole to me. It doesn't have to, but indeed it feels more like a collection of songs than an album. Hindsight to me is 3 different songs, like a lot of the other songs: too much going on. the other half somehow makes me fall asleep: they are decent songs, don't get me wrong..but also: snooozebutton:p to me this album is all over the place..and kinda repetition too: cenral park, or walking away? I sound very negative now..I am not, just critical. Why? because I expect a lot from them...maybe too much, I don't know. magic? nope..good songs..yes, I guess so

I preordered the iTunes release and just bought the album at Target. I've had an iTunes balance for ages so no loss here.
At first pass, when I listened to OOTW I wasn't impressed, but it did feel familiar. And I really liked that. There are some good songs on Almeria; if I didn't have the burning desire for more NNF songs, I could appreciate it more for what that album is. After Almeria I felt like the band I (we!) love so much was slipping away, but they do feel like they are back again!
And after comparing the album version of Yesterday's son and their live in studio version, I'm so confused as to why that one on youtube couldn't be on the album instead. It's so beautiful.

Totally random, but I was looking at the iTunes info for the album, and the bonus songs I bought off itunes have the album classified under the genre "pop", but when iTunes recognized the album info when I imported the CD, it said the genre was "rock". So iTunes seems confused about what genre to call it lol

Long time Lifehouse fan and long time lurker on this forum. I think we can all agree that the last two albums were uhh....yeah, but anyways this album is good.
Hurricane has that familar Lifehouse radio single vibe and something about the chorus when Jason sings "A Hurricane couldn't take you from me, I'm holding on tight and I still believe." really hits you hard
One For The Pain is honestly what Almeria should've sounded like, I can easily see this song being in commercials/tv shows. Maybe like a montage in some show or something, anyways I really like this song.
Flight is probably the most emotional well written song of this entire album, one of my favorites.
Runaways seems like a filler song, I don't connect with this song at all.
Firing Squad is another favorite on this album, the lyrics are amazing and you can hear an honesty in Jason's voice when he's singing. Great track.
Wish is good, but all us diehard Lifehouse fans have heard it before, the way they re-did it definitely fits this album. While I think this version is good, I still love the original melancholy version more.
Stardust, the lyrics are actually suprisingly good, I also like the melody. The vibe of this song does fit the sound of the whole album so I can see why Jason decided to put it in. This track is ok in my book (although I think Bryce's band should have just kept it for the project).
Alien just screams classic Lifehouse, I can easily imagine this being on their self titled album. Although I would've liked the lyrics to be a little deeper during the hook, I love the lyrics during the verses. Very catchy and good song, another one of my favorites.
Central Park, I LOVE this song, this song hits you really hard. Jason's songwriting abilities really shine in this track. Very relate-able and honest song. Another one of my favorites.
Hurt This Way is another song that Almeria should've sounded like, not really too fond of this song, but the hook is catchy. The lyrics don't really do anything for me.
Yesterday's Song is not classic Lifehouse, but classic Blyss. This sounds like something that could've been on Diff's Lucky Day, this song would've been good if the vocal effects weren't implemented. I feel like this song should've been a bonus track though.
Hourglass sounds like something Lifehouse has never attempted before. This song sounds very cinematic, I love the way Jason sings this and I actually think Flight should've replaced this song in terms of track listing. Flight would've been a great ending track for the album. All in all (hehe), this song is good.
iTunes Bonus Tracks:
Hindsight: I LOVE this song, I think this song should've replaced Runaways. The lyrics are classic Jason Wade from the NNF/SC days. Also this album needs more rock sounding songs so this would've been a great addition.
You Are Not Alone: This song seems "eh" to me, a bit boring and the lyrics aren't strong enough to carry the melody.
This song sounds like a fusion of their self-titled album and Who We Are, but leaning more towards Who We Are. The production on this could've been a lot better, but like someone on here said, it's like a kid with a new toy, they're just experimenting right now. They should get the whole mixing thing down in the future. Because of bands like Arctic Monkeys, The Smiths & Lifehouse, I'm very critical on a band's lyrics, Lifehouse's lyrics for Almeria was just terrble, but this album's lyrics are reminiscent of the Who We Are days which is a big, although there is room for improvement, I think Jason still has it in him to write NNF/SC/Self-Titled - esque lyrics. I really wish this album would've been more rock like NNF and SC (because those are simply Lifehouse's best albums along with their self titled), but I hope they do that for their next album. This album does make up for the last two and I really do like this album. This is a good comeback album and it seems like Lifehouse is back on track now...I almost lost hope after Smoke and Mirrors and Almeria lol
Favorite tracks: Hurricane, One For The Pain, Flight, Firing Squad, Alien, Central Park, Hindsight Tracks I'm Alright With: Wish, Hourglass, Least Favorite: Runaways, Stardust, Hurt This Way, You Are Not Alone
Can't wait to head to Target and listen to the four other bonus tracks, I hope they didn't mess with Angeline too much and I've also heard great things about Exhale.

Yup! I was just about to post my thoughts on the two bonus tracks. Hindsight: wow. I wasn't expecting how much rock is in it lol I thought this should have been on the album actually. You Are Not Alone: the lyrics are so moving. This isn't as rock-ish as the other, but I really like it. This I can also see on the album. I know right? Hindsight is actually the most rockish song on the album, funny enough. It'll be a great live song, that's for sure! Still not feeling You Are Not Alone, I agree that the lyrics are beautiful and classic Jason but it's just not grabbing me at the moment. Give it time... Welp, I have the iTunes version, so now I'm waiting on the Target Collector editions in the mail! The next few weeks will be fun Yeah give it time! I think these will do great live. Out of the new bonus tracks I just got today: Clarity: Hasn't grabbed my attention really. I will give it more time. Apres La Vie: Eh still hasn't grabbed my attention. It is a beautiful song though. Angeline: YES I am so glad this was finally made into a studio track. Here is hoping for What Happens Next! Exhale: Probably the one I like the most out of all these 4 bonus tracks from Target.

iTunes Hindsight: Some really great sections like the 1st verse, the bridge, and the end but not a fan of the chorus or the 2nd verse (which makes me think of Kelly Clarkson). You Are Not Alone: I love this song! I was trying to get familiar with all 6 bonus tracks but I just kept clicking repeat on this one. I love how it builds with the piano coming in and then booming drums and the echo-ish background vocals at 02:24.
Target Clarity: A bit too folksy for me but still a pretty good song. Apres La Vie: Okay. Angeline: Again, a bit too folksy for me but a cute song. Exhale: This one is amazing! Like Shawn said, haunting. It's a different mood than most other LH songs. Simply captivating, right from the beginning. The lyrics are also amazing, reminds me of NNF era lyrics.
Overall an excellent set of bonus tracks. Now just awaiting the ID of the collector's package bonus track. Ahh it's like Christmas! So much great music from my favorite band!

Sounds like a peaceful & romantic ukulele song to me, kinda like that version of Somewhere Over The Rainbow.

I can see where the "folky" comes in with Angeline. It wasn't really what I expected so it threw me off ... but I think it's hard after hearing one version (when they performed it live) and then the studio version. I'm replaying it over and over so I can get used to the album version lol.

Ive been playing this record nonstop now since Tuesday evening and Im liking it more and more with each listen. The bonus tracks all made me think "meh" during first listen. But the more I hear them, the more I appreciate them. Like I said previously, Hindsight is a better track than most of the 12 on the standard edition. Hourglass is not just a great song, its a triumph for the band. This is one of the most beautiful pieces of music they have ever put to tape. (OK, to digital, or whatever they put "IT" to). It evokes so much emotion and when listening with headphones it takes on life of it's own. I cant say enough about this track. Stellar job. H20 is also a pretty heavy song (lyrically and musically) -- I decided to put it last in my tracklist, just makes the most sense there. If I cant end it with Hourglass, this is the next best track to do it. Total time with all bonus tracks clocks in at 75 minutes. Practically a double LP.
Such a great return from these guys.
Still hate the vocals on Yesterday's Son... but Ill live.

After listening to the album , the 4 Target bonus tracks and H2O...great stuff! I am happy with the album. The only thing I'd say is that it's too mellow and could have used a few more songs with some drive to them to break up the mellowness here and there.

I think we can conclude that Lifehouse isn't a rock band anymore (if ever they were, but that's a whole different discussion) but I still hope that on the next record they enlist the help of engineer/mixing/producing professionals who are used to working with relatively raw rock acts because they will tell them to keep production more simple and let the strength of the songwriting, vocals and actual instruments be the lead of the tracks instead of this overproduction that takes out about 3/4 of the album's emotion (because the songwriting and performance really do evoke emotion but the production masks it completely).
In general I am very happy with this album because: 1. They really seem to believe in their own songs again and it shows 2. The songwriting (both music and lyrics) have so much more substance than the last two albums 3. There's a certain freshness and enthusiasm to it that inspires the listener to feel the same
Now if only the production suits the songs more naturally, Lifehouse is completely back where they once were.
