Goodbye is fairly similar to the leaked studio version. I like the drum fill lead into the song. Also, additional layers of vocals were added, some electronic keys added, and a very short guitar solo towards the end. Overall, it captures the original live versions very well.
I believe that maybe Carl mentioned it before but while these songs individually are quite good, I'm not sure that they make up a cohesive album with a theme. The songs are from all over the spectrum from folk to experimental to kind of rocking like Chapter Two. I think this release style works much better than releasing them as an inconsistent album.

I was thinking the same thing. I always thought the mix of acoustic tracks and essentially rebranded LH tracks seemed uneven for an album. It’s a good mix covering Jason’s abilities as a songwriter. This was definitely the most anticipated song for me. This was one of my favorite early unreleased tracks and will always be! |

Nice! finally a great recording of goodbye. One of my all-time favorites! Too bad it more up-tempo and less sinister than the bootleg/live-recording though. But I prolly had too high expectations of a studio recording. The paper cuts album shapes up really, really nice!

goodbye was and is great! good he kept it fairly simple and true to what we knew. I do agree that it loses a bit of the sinister, but to me it still is quite dark

I can't think of a solid reason as to why Goodbye wasn't on Stanley Climbfall in place of a song like My Precious. While I'm at it, lyrically it fits the general theme of the Lifehouse album. Musically it would work as well. Beyond those two records though, it doesn't really fit anywhere else.

I can't think of a solid reason as to why Goodbye wasn't on Stanley Climbfall in place of a song like My Precious. While I'm at it, lyrically it fits the general theme of the Lifehouse album. Musically it would work as well. Beyond those two records though, it doesn't really fit anywhere else. I agree. Climb too. Wonder if that song will ever surface again. |

Forgot to post this last week... interesting how Ricky plays drums on Chapter Two as well! Love the percussion on both tracks... as we established the guitar and vox are straight from the 2001ish demo so same but higher quality.

I just stumbled (again) on an old Instagram post from 9wks ago where he states: "The songs "Central Park" and "Sink or Swim" (which will be released in the next few months) were written on this trip. [New York/Venice, Italy]". So we've got at least one more: Central Park! I love this song, reminds me of some tunes from the self-titled record. Hope it's a more folksy version though.

The whole thing is very strange. I don't know why Wish couldn't get released yet again. It got released in 2002 on some international versions of Stanley and then again for Wasteland. As far as I know, since Jason is the sole composer of these- they're his to do with what he pleases.
