man if there is any truth to that article then that's pretty sad... i get that they want to get paid but let's face it...they aren't exactly poor and could have taken a crappy deal considering the amount of Australian Lifehouse fans who waited for 10 years to see them and paid hundreds of dollars per ticket. See, the more I read shit like this about LH I think to myself that old Lifehouse would have gone there for free just to be able to play for their loyal Australian fans. How times have changed.

First of all, I wouldn't call it an "article", it's just a blog and there are NO FACTS in it nor an author to sign it with a name. Some of these things may be true, some are just private opinions of the person who attended a festival and might have heard something here or there. That festival thing is really stinky so I can believe it was caused by financial losses and lack of professionalism . I'm sorry that Lifehouse fans became victims of these people. As to the band... really, Lifehouse is not some bunch of divas. Do you see them asking for buckets of white roses and champagne in their wardrobes or tones of chewing gum for Jason? I once had a chance to see how they behave in their private time and believe me, they are normal, down to earth people and they don't use their status to be treated better than anyone else. I also trust that they really wanted to play there so something must have gone really really bad they didn't. And I think they already learned from this experience. Hopefully they will go to Australia soon to make it up to the fans.

I don't know the reason, but I do wish Lifehouse/the Festival (or preferably a joint statement) would have been quicker to announce the pulling out and with a clear reason why. Whether or not the financial cirucmstances were the issue, that's not even the most relevant thing for me. But pulling out one day before means people who came to see you specifically have no chance in getting everything reimbursed on top of being let down. Just doesn't seem fair.

I think a mutual statement will only work if both parties agree on things..if that is the case, then yes, that would have been the better way. I also agree that it was too last minute, but I do not know the specific reasons so I cannot say anything about that objectively.

I'm not exactly sure how the music business works. But giving something away for free in a business setting may not be the wisest thing to do. You open yourself up for others to demand to have your product/service for free as well. Why would one festival organizer get this band for free but not another? It would seem unfair...

I don't know what the reason is and the reason in itself wouldn't be the most important to me. But I think either the band or the festival (preferably both, but that would be unlikely if there's a dispute) should announce it in a timely fashion and whatever the reason is, at least be clear about it. It shows respect to your fans and customers.

What I didn't understand, was why Lifehouse/Bryce/Rick would post instagram pictures of their weekend off instead. I mean, granted it is their life yadayadayada I definitely have no say whatsoever, but if I were looking forward to the weekend show for months, I'd be slightly peeved with those pictures. It also wasn't very cool to embarrass the organisers to three million of your fans (which they had to reiterate three times in the past fortnight) on facebook by disclaiming themselves that they definitely had no part in cancelling the show. Well sure, they weren't to blame for it, business contracts fall apart almost every day - but there is still a thing called tact. Koen, would you consider being their PR guy, if they were to ever hire? I guess I'm just rather disappointed with how this was handled and how it panned out eventually. Kinda leaves a bitter aftertaste, for me at least.
