... are there no other big fan forums out there for Lifehouse any longer? I come here quite regularly but even here things have died down a lot, maybe a couple new posts every other day... if that...and even then it's usually the same 5-10 people who post here. The official forums are dead/no longer exist, LH-Nation is dead,.... is there any place else? I find it strange that a band that has been around for so long does not have a large online fan board. This forum right here used to be very busy but nowadays it's very quiet. What gives? Does anyone know of any other forums that are still active? Where did everyone go???

I know what you mean. Sick Cycle had a lot of energy for awhile. I check this site every day to see what's new and nothing really. Only if the next album is coming out, that's when everyone comes on.

I think most people talk via Facebook and Twitter now... many people moved away from the LH forums.

I think social media has had a big influence. The main thing is that Lifehouse hasn't had a solid official message board since forever.. Only in the DW days they had a solid one. After that went away and then LifehouseFans ended, there was sort of diaspora of smaller communities, but there wasn't anything 'centralized' so nothing really established itself.
So I think it's 1. the lack of an official (or centralized) community like the old official forum or LifehouseFans and 2. the growing influence of social media like FB & Twitter.
Another, smaller, reason, I think is that a lot of fans that have been around for a while aren't as active anymore. Some have grown apart from the band/music, but I think most of 'our generation' is in a stage of their lives where they are very busy with their careers and families, so that might be an issue also (not as prominent, but it adds to it, I think)

Yeah I get what you're saying about Facebook and Twitter... but those places, while great for communicating between existing fans, don't really allow for a fan community to form quite like a forum does, or for someone to meet new fans. I am still confused as to why Lifehouse removed any mention or link to the official forums on their official website. It's almost as if they are ashamed of their fans :S

I'm not sure how involved they are with the website. I think that's more of a label thing (but I may very well be wrong about that). I suppose they chose for an informative/bloglike website instead of a community where they need to monitor things more closely.
But I agree with you, a forum does have more opportunities to evolve into a community and unite people in a sense. However, it is less convenient than the social media everyone seems to be using already anyway. Especially Facebook with all the groups and pages and all.

With FB and Twitter no one really "needs" MBs anymore, but not only MBs, also websites, I see it on ROPF and am asking myself why I even keep it still online.

I've seen the same thing with other bands. Some bands, that have a relatively big online presence and have some sort of official or semi-official forum (or something of the likes) manage to keep a large amount together and thus a community or sometimes several communities are maintained. If the band or label isn't designating a place that can turn into a community, people are going to find their own ways to find information and talk to fans. And with the rate social media is growing and the way you can find like-minded people, forums (and even fansites or supporting websites, as Minka mentioned) are becoming obsolete.
However, the tidal movement of activity is nothing new. Not for smaller forums and communities like this one. Lifehouse fans had thousands of members, so the pool of active members was a lot bigger too, this forum, cleaned up, has just over 200 members, of which there are many passive or semi-active members. People have lives outside of the internet, interact via other channels and don't always feel the need or the interest to jump in to a discussion. The smaller the total amount of members, the earlier a forum will have quiet spells. It all feels kind of normal to me, though I have to admit, with the status of Lifehouse, you would expect to have a certain kind of community, whether it is official or not.

I know I'm speaking as someone who used to post fairly regularly and doesn't as often now -- I still check in an read what others say. I'm not as active a poster with how busy I am (yes, I'm pulling that excuse. I'm that busy, cough, lazy sometimes), but I do still like to come and read what others are saying There may be some others in the same boat as me. As for the official board not being linked anymore (I didn't even notice), I don't think it was them being ashamed of their fans -- I think, if I recall correctly, there was a lot of drama with that board. I never really frequented it that often, but I remember there being a lot of drama of sorta and a big lack of moderation there. I think they also started seeing a lot of spam at one point, and lack of moderation didn't help to clean it. I think the upkeep if it got to be too much. Why there was a lack of moderation, is an entirely different question. This is slightly off topic, but I have noticed that a lot of discussions have moved to facebook and twitter, and call me old school, but I much prefer keeping them to forums. Forums are a great way to have conversations (at any length of characters) with anybody -- friends or strangers and keeps my newsfeeds less clogged

I indeed think that most goes via FB or twitter now..but I do have to say that I value this board a lot:D I would miss it if it would not be there, even if there are times when I do not visit for a long time: it's just good to know it's still here.

Just to say, I miss the old days too! I think the reason is perhaps that the fans have grown up with the band, and many of us are probably busier with careers, children etc now, and don't have as much time to come online (I certainly don't, I don't have my old IT classes to sit and surf forums anymore ) I'd love to go back to the old days, but hey, we have this awesome board, we can create the community feel once again
