Like the album or not, I always like doing this when there are plenty of b-sides out there that you can fit on an album. How about we stick to 11 songs? Ready? Go.

Edit: Pins & Needles and Always Somewhere Close in replace of .. well to be honest I don't think any of the songs will be missed but if I had to pick it would be Moveonday and Barricade.

yeah I didn't completely understand why you'd want us to list 11 bsides but that could be my comprehension at two in the morning.

I'd take Moveonday and Slow Motion off and put Pins & Needles and Lady Day on there, but I'm not sure it would really change my opinion of the album very much.

All apologies for not understanding us. I'm far from the "I want NNF 2 or SCF 2". I love pushing yourself sonically. I think the band tried that on here and failed. Musically it isn't awful but J is a better lyricist than this.

Jude Cole is the most self-indulgent person I have seen speak in a very long time. The "I take full credit for anything Lifehouse circa 2000-on and have had a special connection writing all their songs since 2007...when all their songs stopped having meaning" self-claim made me sick to my stomach at the album release party. He didn't actually say those exact words but similarly to it. It was also fun to watch him exit with a nice little brunette 20-something arm candy afterwards.
Singer-songwriters are known to be a little egotistical by nature and its interesting to me that it seems like Jason has given his ego away to Jude for writing "Lifehouse" songs.
However, I am with the fans that actually don't mind the new album. I think overall there are 4 songs off the bat that are worth listening to, which is a lot more than the last album IMO. Gotta be tonight, Right back home, aftermath, lady day. I really haven't listened to most of the other songs, except nobody listen which is the worst song ever.

yeah I'd like to know that too.. and the 20 year old: well that has nothing to do with the music right?;-) I really liked SAM so..yeah:/ and Dana: and I do not understand how you could say that all songs are brilliant..but it's music, so it's ok not to understand how something can make you feel the world or not;D

I never had a conversation with Jude Cole. He introduced "his" band at the album release party. It was the introduction I was referring to.

brilliant, beautiful..potatoe potahtoe:p *no kidding, if I understood that wrong, I am sorry!* I just think that if people do not like it that that is just as valid as people loving it a lot..it's subjective

I'm glad that there are people who really like and enjoy the album. Because music is all about emotion and connection. And people have different ways of feeling and identifying with it, so it's bound to happen that some people can and some people cannot (or have more problems with it) connect to it.
For the moment I'm taking a little distance from the album, just to be able to listen to it with fresh ears when the actual CD comes in the mail. I'm going to try to listen to it differently, see if I can find things in the songs that I do like, so that I can find my way to enjoy the songs more than I do now.
I doubt Almeria will ever become one of my favorite albums, but I've always found that even in bad songs (and I don't think these songs are necessarily bad, but so far they haven't been able to capture me) there are things to say in favor of the songs, even if it's because of a certain moment or situation or because it just sounds like fun or because it reminds you of something. That's what I'm hoping for with Almeria, that I can find a context where the songs gain meaning for me and I think over time, that might just happen, at least to some degree.

I spend some time with Almeria yesterday and listened to the songs carefully, but I chose to pick them up in a random order and listen to one song a couple of times. I must say it helps a bit. I can say now that Right back home is the best one, I see it as a big adventure for the band and I can hear the passion and the fun they had playing it, it's genuine although it doesn't sound like a Lifehouse song. The lyrics aren't bad either, although the "I'm alone - back - home" theme repeats itself on the album and makes me think home is a place Jason wants to be now, away from the spotlight. But the only song that found its way to my heart at hello is "Always somewhere close". Not a brilliant Lifehouse hit song, but it has everything that I need and the way Jason interprets it, it feels genuine and I feel he's talking to me and I can relate to it.
So I would pick Always somewhere close and probably Pins and Needles to replace... hmm... Nobody listen and Where I come from.
