for a first single, i wish it was more catchier. even with the swings of the chorus, none of the lyrics grab a hold of me. and i know it's hard to predict radio, but I don't see this song being a hit anywhere.

and i know it's hard to predict radio, but I don't see this song being a hit anywhere. Well, I think this single is very pop and comercial.. The kind of song that pass on radio... I think it will be a hit... I would love to listen it on radio while I'm driving.. :b The beginning part is my favorite one.. Love Jason's voice and the melody... It makes me remember the "old" Lifehouse.. It gives me good feelings.. But the rest of the song is very comercial... And *I think* a good song to be a hit on the radio...

I LOVE this song! I've been a fan since NNF and this is wonderful! The ending with Natasha singing in the background invokes these moments of "YES"! It's very catchy but personally, I can't get enough of it. Great song and I hope the rest of the album is even more amazing!

haha:-D
I think the single will do pretty well, since I think it's a song for the radio. I actually am starting to like Natasha's part better than Jason's..
I think she is really good at bringing across emotions:D

I really get that the song doesn't do anything special to some of you, as I was rather sceptical when I heard the snippet for the first time. I was a bit disappointed. But when I heard the whole song I got the impression Jason is back to personal songwriting and the way he interprets the song with his voice, it shows he is talking about something that happened to him or somebody close to him. I'm glad and relieved it's not a cheesy love song. I am only wondering: why did it take three people to write BTR? The lyrics are kinda simple ... It's like asking three people to help you with the lightbulb Oh well, maybe the three of them wrote both music and lyrics... I am also looking forward to hear a live version of BTR as I didn't like Halfway gone and a few other songs from Smoke and Mirrors but fell in love with them when we heard them live.

Thanks for the link. Jason sounds strange at the beginning, lol. ;D I absolutley love the beginning, it gives me goosebumps, he sounds so fragile in it, it makes me all teary! Yeah, it sounds good, but if you just listen to the first 5 seconds to guess who sings that, I would never think of Jason. ;D After that it gets really catchy and I like it. With the drums it sounds like a thundershower. For me the music itself imparts more atmosphere (than their music ever had)...Jasons voice becomes so energetic during the song... Natasha is a good choice, because a) her voice sounds good with Jasons b) she is more famous over here and it could give LH more attention.

@julia..agree with the three persons, then again, if Jude and that Kasher dude only thought of let's say the melody, or wrote three words out of the whole song *or vice versa when it comes to Jay* they need to be referenced as co-writers..
maybe the one came up with the bridge, the other with the chorus..etc:p *but yeah, see your point:-D*
I agree that natasha is an awesome choice, for the reasons you give hati, but also just because I really like her and her music:D

I love it SO much! <3 I love the percussion ... sounds like the clippety clomp of a cowboy and his horse riding off into the sunset after enduring a bad storm. The lyrics are so interesting because as in true Lifehouse fashion, you could interpret this as a romantic song, a song about brotherhood/sisterhood of man, or even about a spiritual feeling of God being with you. I specifically tried to listen to it in all of those ways and found so many different vantage points. The lyrics (like "aftershocks") also kind of make me think of all of the terrible disasters that have rocked the world in the last few years. Hurricanes and Tsunamis and floods and all of it has been so hard on the people it affected. And the rest of the world cares and I think this is the perfect song to feature that kind of compassion and to honor those SURVIVORS who were able to pick up the pieces and keep "a smile on their face" in spite of it all. The video for this has the potential to be TRULY amazing. Being released on 9/11 is brilliant if you ask me because that reminds me of one of the most significant turning points in American history anyways... not sure if that's intentional... but the stars all seem to align on me for that one. I love their voices together... I mean... I get chills... Jason and Natasha both have some subtle nuances to their voices that are just unbelievably sincere and understated. In particular, she does some ad lib harmonizing that made the hair on my arm stand on end. I don't have words for how that makes me feel. It's gorgeous. And that bridge? Magical. *goosebumps* with the suspension of the percussion and just the weepy violins... it's like spinning slowly through a safe tunnel or something. Love it. I can't wait to hear the rest of the song and see what they come up with for a video. I'm so excited for the rest of the album. It's really different for a Lifehouse song but it's so VERY Lifehouse. I love that they know where they're going and that they are so happy about this record too!!! They should be.... they've been working on it for a LONNNNNG time. Personally, I'm glad I stuck with them as a fan. And I also think this was a nice way for Lifehouse to achieve what they mentioned earlier and that was to stay "relevent" ... they could have the greatest music in the world, but it DOES need to resonate with the times and the bigger picture of what's going on for people. I think they achieved that in a way that is subtle but very effective. Did anyone else read on their twitter: @jacobkasher amazing co-writing with u m'man! Not sure if that means THAT particular song was cowritten with him or if it's something else on the record, but that was pretty interesting to me. I don't know his work, but it sounds like he's rap/hip hop influenced himself. I heard one song called POS and my initial reaction was YIKES, but I'm keeping my mind open! LOL Time to celebrate! And get their booties on TOUR!!! #ComeToBoston !!!!! <3 Well said & totally agree with you Christy! And I think Between The Raindrops is awesome. I also love Natasha Bedingfield. She's a great! For example Soulmate www.youtube.com/watch?v=P27MPi3ZhCg

LOL well Julia, just think of our lil singles, you, Joyce and I also write together, but you do the most part, maybe it's the same with them. I'm also curious how it will sound live and will Bryce or Ben be the chick live? Natasha is a good choice, because a) her voice sounds good with Jasons b) she is more famous over here and it could give LH more attention. Yes it does, unlike with Alyssa Bernal, that was just terrible! Yes true, but I am also happy about her, because I like her since These Words.
