I know it's still far away, but I already find myself thinking about what songs Lifehouse is going to play when they come back to Europe in the summer.
Of course, they'll be playing songs off of SAM. Songs that I would expect are All In, Halfway Gone, Nerve Damage, and Wrecking Ball. I'm not so sure about Falling In, that may depend on whether they'll be releasing it here or not.
And then I got to thinking about the two fixtures in their set list: HBAM and You and Me. I love both songs. For me You and Me is a trip down memory lane, and HBAM is just a great song to listen to. But for the guys, I can imagine that it can become a bit of a drag to have to play these two songs at every single concert that they give. Not that I think that they don't enjoy seeing all the fans belting the songs back at them, because I really think they do. But I'm sure they wouldn't mind if we'd request them to drop one of the two from the set in favor of another song.
So my question is: would you be willing to give up one of these two songs for a more experimental song, a new song that might not be entirely polished just yet? And if so, which one would you give up?
I would be willing to give up either one (though I would prefer to keep HBAM in the set) for a new song that may or may not end up on their next album. This would give the band a break from performing these songs and allow them to play something new. PLUS, we would get to listen to a never heard (or maybe once or twice heard) before song. Wouldn't that be cool?

Well new songs are always a plus. Even if wasn't a new song and just one they rarely do live would be exciting. I guess I could do without "You And Me". "HBAM" never gets old in my opinion.
Now if you were to have picked 2 other songs, that might have been difficult.

Lynn I really like ‘your’ topic I think it’s not far away, just 2 months! Time flies... From Smoke & Mirrors I expect All In, Here Tomorrow Gone Today, Nerve Damage (Let go let it be!), Wrecking Ball and Halfway Gone. And maybe Smoke & Mirrors or Falling In. But I’m not sure about that. Other songs I expect are: Spin, You and Me, Whatever It Takes, First Time, Broken and of course Hanging by a Moment and Everything! And maybe Wash (I love Wash). For the acoustic set I expect: From Where You Are and Everything. Maybe Sick Cycle Caroussel, Blind, Take Me Away, Somewhere In Between or Simon. My suggestion for the acoustic set is Out of Breath. And Lynn to answer your question: I will give up You and Me . I will never give up Hanging by a Moment. But I don’t think Lifehouse will give up You and Me, because almost everybody loves this song. That’s for sure. I suggest they play It Is What It Is or All That I’m Asking For instead of You and Me. That would be amazing. I prefer It Is What It Is. It would be great to hear some other songs.

Well new songs are always a plus. Even if wasn't a new song and just one they rarely do live would be exciting. I guess I could do without "You And Me". "HBAM" never gets old in my opinion. Now if you were to have picked 2 other songs, that might have been difficult. Hmm… maybe I should have formulated the question differently. Probably everyone on this board would agree with you that the choice I presented is a no-brainer. And at first glance, I would agree. Who doesn’t want to hear a new song, right? How about this: Should they take out one of these songs in favor of a new song? The reason I ask is: both You and Me and HBAM were such huge hits for the band, that I’m sure part of the crowd will be disappointed when they don’t play them. So for the band, not playing one of these may not be a good idea. So if you take the band’s perspective into account, you may not be willing to give up either of the songs. And being the lovely fans that we are, we don't want to just be thinking about what we want, right? (Although I would love it if they would play the list of songs that I will personally put together for them ) Now for the festivals that they will be playing in Europe I would say that they should NOT take out You and Me nor should they take out HBAM. Since festivals attract a very diverse crowd, they should play songs that appeal to everyone. But at the smaller venues, I suspect that a bigger part of the crowd is going to consist of LH fans (i.e. us). And I think we would be willing to give up one of these crowd pleasers for new songs. But it may still be risky, because even the LH fans like the crowd pleasers. I think I would be a little bummed if they took out either one of those. A new song, however, would totally make up for it. I’m not sure whether I would like them to do any song that they rarely play live. I don’t think My Precious would be a satisfying substitute for either of the songs. Not for me at least… Is this a more difficult question? Or is it still easy peasy? How about if I throw Everything into the mix? Lol, I’m trying really hard to make this more difficult for you Lynn I really like ‘your’ topic I think it’s not far away, just 2 months! Thanks for liking my topic ;D Yes HTGT I would expect too. And who knows, maybe if we cheer loud enough during that song, they might just release that one here in Europe And I’m secretly hoping that they will do Smoke and Mirrors. I really like that song! I would love it if they did Quasimodo, Simon and TMA. Out of Breath would be great too. And maybe also Don’t Wake Me When It’s Over. They have too many great songs *sigh* It Is What It Is and All That I'm Asking For would be nice too. No preference there. They are both great songs. what about a 10yr anniversary for NNF and play the whole album + some new stuff from SAM? ;-) Oh yes! Best idea yet! I would love that! And while they are at it, play the song No Name Face too! That would be one amazing party

what about a 10yr anniversary for NNF and play the whole album + some new stuff from SAM? ;-) i was thinking just that when the 10yr NNF anniversary passed a few months ago. especially since a bunch of other bands seem to be having these sorts of reunion tours lately. and to answer the original question...i think i say this after almost every show i go to: HBAM and you & me are nice, but i would LOOOOOOOVE to hear something else in place of it (and i could think of 10 other songs i would rather hear). but i also feel like a lot of the more casual fans will riot if they don't play those two, haha.

what about a 10yr anniversary for NNF and play the whole album + some new stuff from SAM? ;-) like jimmy eat world did with their 'clarity tour'? oh man that was one of the best show i have been too though. i would LOVE it if lifehouse did something like that. As to the topic at hand, i would completely rather have new songs. i miss the days of them doing that. the times when we knew some new songs and could guess what would be on the next album instead of being left in the dark. enough covers already.

I agree that new songs would be great! It definatly makes it harder tp throw Everything into the mix. I love everything and love it most when i hear it live.......but i guess I would be willing to give you Y+M up. Its a tricky qu though!!
