I’m not what you would a call a hard-core Lifehouse fan. Sure, I sing along when “Hanging By a Moment” comes on the radio—okay, maybe I have it downloaded to one of my more sappy playlists—but if you asked me how many people were in the band or what the lead singer’s name was, I wouldn’t have the slightest idea how to answer.
That all changed, however, after I attended the Lifehouse Studio C performance at Cities97 yesterday. After playing only two quick songs—“Halfway Gone” and “First Time”—for an audience of maybe 30 guests, I was smitten with not only the music, but also the lead singer, Jason Wade.
Wade and his band mate, Ricky Woolstenhulme, joked with the audience about their upcoming introduction to Ke$ha at the Star Party, and Wade talked about Lifehouse’s current tour, and what it’s like traveling the world while opening for Chris Daughtry, who performed at the Xcel Energy Center on Wednesday night. Woolstenhulme and Wade both seemed very down to earth and genuinely happy to play for such a small crowd.
The acoustic performance was cut short due to the band’s required presence at the sound test for the Star Party, and Wade’s swollen glands, which precluded him from performing on Twin Cities Live on Wednesday. However, despite the speedy show, I was duly impressed with how similar the acoustic performance was to the radio version of their hits. After just two songs and 20 short minutes, it’s safe to say that my iPod will receive a serious dose of Lifehouse very soon.
