<3 Badly-Drawn Boy. Anyway, the conflicts between my father and I that began 6 months ago and only escalated in severity and stress inflicted on me has culminated in my leaving home this afternoon. I'm now at a friend's house and trying to arrange for a more permanent home. People who realise that I was applying to college in the US might be interested to know that I have now cancelled my applications. I can no longer afford to finance my education at CU, RPI, or TTU, by any stretch. I can barely afford to get myself dinner tonight, so thank God for friends! This is a huge, huge set-back in the way I was going to run my life, but whatever. I'm just trying to keep it together so I don't scream or fall into a pit of despair or something. (I figured I'd start a thread just so I don't swamp the Randomness thread with status updates) Any luck would be greatly, greatly appreciated. Thanks, guys.

I'm so sorry to hear you're going through something like this. But you're a strong person and you can get through this! I know you can. Just remember that you're a good person and you desrve great things. Sometimes life doesn't go the way we think it should, but in time we'll look back and see that the new path was the only way it could have been. Things will work out. Believe in yourself. Good luck to you! Jolene

I agree with Jolene and that was nicely said. I'm going through a really tough time myself and sometimes I felt like I was drowning, but I'm also finding comfort in discovering how amazing the true supports in your life can be, realizing the incredible strength that it takes to get through really hard situations, and knowing that other people have survived and even improved their lives after situations like mine or maybe even worse than mine. Do you really have to cancel those applications? Maybe there are still ways to get scholarships or financing some other way? Sometimes colleges will even help you through that process. I would encourage you to first take care of yourself, get your housing situation figured out, and let others help you if they can. Don't make any hasty decisions about colleges or other important things just yet, and just take one little step at a time until you start to feel better about things. Remember you've got your Lifehouse friends That sure made me feel a lot better. OH.....and this one has been a lifesaver for me and it costs nothing.......just breathe.

I'm sorry that you're having to go through this situation, but just keep your confidence up and your head held high.

Realistically, I'm only looking to get maybe $1-2k from grants and things, and that's if I was very lucky. I need $30k minimum to attend TTU. I'm staying with friends indefinitely. As soon as I can, I'm going to head down to Centrelink to look into getting Youth Allowance from the government. That should allow me to rent an apartment somewhere. It won't leave much money for my student contribution to my local university fees, though. :\
