So, even though it's been a while, I want to actually review my second concert: Nickelback, Seether, and Saving Abel. It was on April 13th and it ROCKED. (if you happen to despise Nickelback, read no further because I enjoyed myself ;D )
The main reasons I wanted to go to this concert were Seether (I heart them.) & the fact that my sister is obsessed with NB. But by the time we went to get tickets, general admission AND first level had sold out, so we had to get tickets in the nosebleed section. Yay. But the Thursday before the concert, I'd been listening to the radio trying to win meet-and-greet passes, and they asked what province Nickelback was from and I was the first one to call in with the right answer (Alberta) so after a lot of screaming and jumping up and down, I won M&G's and general admission tickets. Happiness!!
The Nickelback meet and greet started at 7:15 and the concert started at 7, so we didn't get to see ANY of Saving Abel's set (which is sad because i actually like them), but we could hear it. Their setlist was:
1. In God's Eyes
2. New Tattoo
3. 18 Days
4. Drowning (Face Down)
5. Out of My Face
6. Addicted
Meanwhile, me and my sister Crystal were at the meet and greet, trying not to hyperventilate as we took our picture with Nickelback (it was only a photo M&G because there were a LOT of winners and if it was a signing meet and greet we would've been there all night). Here's the picture if anyone wants to see it. (I'm the one wearing the LH shirt (I didn't have a Nickelback shirt, but i wanted to wear a band shirt, so there it is. )and for some reason I don't look very happy. but i was. oh i was. (would have been MUCH happier if i'd been meeting my favorite band, but oh well. someday.)) We could have waited longer and met Saving Abel, but I really wanted to see Seether so we just went to the main arena floor.
We actually managed to get closer to the stage than I thought we'd be able to, so that was good. Seether was amazing and i had a lot of fun. They played:
1. Gasoline
2. Fine Again
3. Breakdown
4. Broken (they got some girl from the audience to sing with them. it wasn't that great but it wasn't that bad)
5. Careless Whisper (did i mention how much i love this version!!)
6. Rise Above This
7. Fake It
8. Remedy
After Seether left the stage, we wanted to get closer, but instead of going toward the main stage, we decided it would be easier to move back and get close to the little mini-stage catwalk thingy. (Here's a picture so you can see what I'm talking about) Facing that thing, there was only one person between Crystal and the barricade thing and I was right behind Crystal. So that was fun. Nickelback ROCKED. I don't care if you don't like them that much, they definitely know how to put on a good show. Their setlist was:
1. Something In Your Mouth
2. Because of You
3. Photograph
4. Figured You Out
5. Savin Me
6. Far Away
7. Hey Man, Nice Shot (Filter cover) - Shaun Morgan from Seether came out and sang this one. it was awesome
8. Gotta Be Somebody (after this one, they gave the microphone to some dude in the crowd and he proposed to his girlfriend (he was like "will you be my somebody" and there was a collective awww) but I didn't understand what was happening at first until he got down on one knee lol)
9. If Everyone Cared
10. This Afternoon (before this one, they all went out on the mini-stage, so we were really close to them and Mike (bass guitarist) and Daniel (drummer) kept looking like right at us. I got a lot of pictures, but it was on my cousin's camera and I don't think i'm gonna get any of them back. ever. oo but it was cool because i was wondering what they were gonna do about the drums, but a drum set just flipped out of the mini-stage. i was like, cool.)
11. Rockstar (after this one they went back to the main stage)
12. Burn it to the Ground
13. How You Remind Me
14. Drum solo (ok, i love LH (obviously) & Rick's an awesome drummer, but wow. WOW. Daniel Adair is the best drummer I've ever seen (admittedly, i haven't seen a lot of drummers, but still.)
Encore:
15. Use Somebody (Kings of Leon cover) - Ryan (the guitarist) sang this one on the mini-stage.
16. Too Bad (during the chorus, everyone was jumping up and down. why? because Chad (lead singer (in case you didn't know)) told us to. )
17. Someday
18. Animals
At the end, when they were throwing all their picks and drumsticks and whatnot into the crowd, Ryan happened to toss a pick in our direction. The girl in front of us tried to catch it, but it fell down to the floor. So I made it my mission to get that pick before we left. When people started leaving, me and Crystal were looking for it, and Crystal picked it up. I was sad because I figured she'd keep it, but she gave it to me since I won the tix/M&G passes in the first place & because she'd already got a T-shirt. So now I always keep that pick in my pocket so i can show it off. (Me and crystal call it the P.O.P. (the pick of Peake (Peake is Ryan's last name)). I was originally gonna call it the P.O.R. (pick of Ryan) (Tenacious D reference. the P.O.D.) but Crystal came up with the new name. the pop. yeah)
So I had a GREAT time. Just felt like sharing that moment. ;D
