www.b97.com/pages/2342532.phpFrom the new album "Paper Empire" out on May 12th. I'm digging it. I was hoping for a return to the "How Does Your Garden Grow?" sound, but maybe there's still hope for that on the rest of the album.

I was expecting it to sound a little like Breathless from Before the Robots, but clearly, this one is something that will bring back those long lost BTE/Dishwalla days! :] Thanks for posting, Brian Curious though, I stumbled upon this on Youtube...

Kevin Griffen wrote the song for that guy back in 2003 I believe. Von tried to release it as a single but had some major label issues and it never got a proper release...so, now BTE is releasing it.

I know I am kinda late posting on this thread but I just wanted to say thanks for posting the new Better than Ezra single. I had never heard of Better than Ezra until recently and I am impressed by the few songs that I have heard so far surfing You Tube. I didn't realise they had been around for so long. I like the new single but I think Kevin Griffin's vocals sound a little overpowered in the chorus. It might just be how it sounds over the speakers on my computer though. I am thinking of picking up some of their albums. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am thinking of buying Closer and Before the Robots and the upcoming album too. My favourite from them so far (although like I say, I know only a few of their songs) is the acoustic version of Closer. I love the vocals and arrangement and really relate lyrically to it as I have a little boy of my own.

Closer is the perfect Summer album. Beginning to end it seems like every song on that album could have been released as a single. "Closer" and "Rolling" are two of my favorites. Before The Robots is a great album. It's a bit inconsistent, but it has some great songs on it. Personally, my favorite album is "How Does Your Garden Grow?". It takes the longest time to "get" but it is possibly the most underrated album of the 90's.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll check out the albums you have suggested. Sometimes the albums that take the longest to "get" are the ones that you end up loving the most.

Here's the tracklisting for the new album. Many of these songs ("Black Light", "I Just Knew", "Wounded", "Hey Love", and "The Loveless") have been up at some point on Kevin Griffin's myspace page. Many BTE fans thought that some could be from an upcoming Kevin solo album and some from BTE, I don't think any of us expected them all to be on the new album. So, if you're interested...the mp3's are out there for them. "Hey Love" is an amazing song and I'm glad it made it.
Paper Empire track listing:
1. Absolutely Still
2. Turn Up The Bright Lights
3. Just One Day
4. The Loveless
5. All In
6. Fit
7. Hell No!
8. Hey Love
9. Nightclubbing
10. Black Light
11. Wounded
12. I Just Knew

Got my copy of the new album in the other day. It's pretty damn good. At parts it's like a BTE dance album. I'd say this album falls somewhere musically between "How Does Your Garden Grow?" and "Before the Robots".
