Since I am flying out in the morning to Denver to see the Fray play the first of their scheduled Jan/Feb club dates, I figured that I would start this thread. I have been searching everywhere for some decent recordings (whether ripped from video or whatever) of the songs on the new album since I REALLY prefer to know the music before going to a show. I've succeeded in finding about 6 of them either by getting them from Amazon (Syndicate), iTunes (You Found Me), or simply (desperately) ripping the audio from videos I've found -- I'll admit to a little help from my friend too In any case, I figured that I'd start this thread to have a place to talk about the show tomorrow night, share pictures and videos (if they let us take them) and also to discuss the new album. I noticed that Hannah (Oreo) is going to their show in Minneapolis on the 8th. Is anyone else going to one of the 8 or 9 dates over the next month? 1/06/09 - Denver, CO - Gothic Theatre 1/08/09 - Minneapolis, MN - First Avenue 1/09/09 - Chicago, IL - Metro 1/10/09 - Detroit, MI - St Andrew's Hall 1/12/09 - Toronto, Canada - Phoenix 1/14/09 - Boston, MA - Wilbur Theatre 1/15/09 - Philadelphia, PA - TLA 1/16/09 - Washington DC - 9:30 Club 2/04/09 - New York City, NY - Webster Hall These shows seemed to sell out pretty fast. The Denver venue I know only holds 999 Edit: Denver 1/6/09 show - linksYouTubeSyndicate (full)Where The Story Ends (full)Say When (full)Enough For Now (partial)Ungodly Hour (full)Single Ladies Cover (full) & She Is (partial)Never Say Never (full)We Build Then We Break (partial)Happiness (most of song)FlickrPhotos

Okay, I have to say, I'm what you call an "obsessed" fan of the Fray as well, so I searched everywhere to find as many new songs as I could! I have the official versions of You Found Me, Syndicate, Say When, and then I have pretty decent live versions of Lost My Head, Absolute, Enough For Now, Never Say Never(this is acoustic), Syndicate, Ungodly Hour, and Happiness. I can upload them to mediafire if you want me to? I'm going to be taking video and pictures at the Thursday concert. I'll post links here on Friday.

I'm not so obsessed, but more just like to know what I'm going to hear. Can't say I've ever gone to see a band where I had no clue of what they were likely to sing.....so, just trying to get a glimpse.... otherwise the album will come in the mail soon enough -- which based on what I've heard, I look forward to!

i'm so sad they're coming to TLA and i can't go. the show sold out, like most, in the unfair pre-sale. i hope they do more club shows around the area cause i want to see them in a smaller venue. i hope you guys have fun at the shows!

They sang all 10 of the songs from the new album...it was a day of waiting and was a great day until they placed Isaac's piano right in front of our faces in the front row. Hannah -- make sure that you get a spot to the right of center if you end up front row. I knew better, but forgot until we already had our spots and just hoped for the best. It could not have been any worse. We literally couldn't see 3 of the 4 band members. After fuming for a while, I made the best of it and lifted my camera straight up (fully extended) and took video from the edge of Isaac's piano. I got a lot of video this way in spite of the horrible situation. I also got 3 or 4 songs from a position held by someone we met in line. They would let me go over by them during certain songs. I have tons of video and will put some of the newer / unknown songs on YouTube. I also have a few pictures and will post them on Flickr or somewhere once we're home. My first video of the new song "Syndicate" is on YouTube and you can find it here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=-uCg4KeHsVU&fmt=18It's one of my favorite songs off of the new album. I'm out and about to fly home.

The TLA is sold out? I guess I don't have to make a decision after all. When is the album coming out?

i tried to get tickets for the TLA show the minute they went on sale and they were already gone. i'm guessing they offered them all for the presale which they don't usually do. kind of regretting not doing the whole album preorder thing now, but oh well. karen that really stinks about the piano i hope you two still had a fun time?

I was actually planning on being in the right center anyways, because I went to a previous fray concert and the piano was right in front of me! It sucked, but now I know better. thanks for the video. Syndicate is one of my favorites too, Enough For Now is probably my favorite. the new album is coming out February 3rd. I preordered the album so I was able to take part in the pre-sale. I know a lot of people are having a hard time finding tickets. you can still buy them on stubhub and other sites, but they are more expensive. glad you had fun though! ;D

Katelyn -- we survived, I guess. It was a lesson about traveling to see artists you don't know very well. I'll stick to LH and Matt for a while, I think. They are predictable. I also don't really "connect" to the Fray at all. I like their music, but it's a different concert experience from the ones I've had over the last 16 months. I was pleased at least with the video I DID get though -- it was unbelievable to get what I did in this situation. I have FULL songs of: SyndicateSay WhenWhere the Story EndsNever Say NeverSingle Ladies (cover) -- which was fun Ungodly Hour (sung by Joe) -- I pulled a stunt like in Spokane where during the start of Bridges the camera was on Jason and then had to pan over to Bryce when HE (surprisingly) started singing. On this one the camera started on Isaac...then Joe I have partial songs of: Enough for Now (Snippet) We Build Then We Break (Snippet) Happiness (most) You Found Me (all but the first couple of lines -- had to change memory sticks) And.... Absolute was the first song and I erased the video of that one because it was taken while I was not happy and trying to figure out whether to move out of the front row or not. I did meet Ben (the drummer) in the parking lot and talk to him for a bit. He was with the touring guitarist (didn't know that then) and another guy who was taking a lot of pictures and possibly videos during the show later. He was sweet and gracious and I guess it's good that I met him then because I did not see him during the show AT ALL. Katie got Joe's setlist which will be in my photos on Flickr soon.... I am uploading Say When, Never Say Never and Where the Story Ends right now....who knows when they will be available though since YouTube has been acting VERY flaky lately

Ok...here are all of the videos that I've put on YouTube (in the order they were performed). These links have the high quality extension on them so that it will take you to the HQ version, when available. Syndicate (full)Where The Story Ends (full)Say When (full)Enough For Now (partial)Ungodly Hour (full)Single Ladies Cover (full) & She Is (partial)Never Say Never (full)We Build Then We Break (partial)Happiness (most of song)This set includes full or partial video of 8 of the new songs that will be on their new self-titled album being released on 2/3/09. Since Isaac Slade is very difficult to understand (10x more so than Jason), I've included lyrics in the YouTube description on songs where I could find lyrics. I'm still missing some, so if you have them please PM me. Still need lyrics for Absolute (not included here), Never Say Never, Where the Story Ends, Enough for Now, Ungodly Hour, We Build Then We Break. The songs are SO MUCH better when you know what the heck he is saying I'll also post these links & the link to my pictures in the first post of this thread for ease in finding them later. Hannah...I will copy your media links in the first post as well once you've posted them here.

thanks karen! you werent kidding about the guy being hard to understand. I CANT UNDERSTAND ANYTHING!!! was he that difficult to understand during the concert too or is it just because of the audio in the videos? They should consider turning down the volume on the instruments if he can't sing loud enough :S

Katie didn't listen to any of the songs that I'd gathered before the show and she was a bit clueless about ANYTHING he said. But, I think that is just his "style" and true of almost anything he sings. I guess if I think about it the studio recordings of Syndicate and You Found Me are much better and a little easier to understand. The only way that I enjoyed it is because I had seeked out most of the songs, even if just on YouTube, before going so that I WOULD have a clue what he was saying. There are actually some REALLY good songs on this album -- once you can figure out the lyrics. Overall....to me it seems like it will be a better album than the first.

Hey guys the concert was amazing! I took a lot of pictures a few videos, which I should be getting up tonight and tomorrow. The only bad part was this girl I had to deal with. We stood out in the -20 windchill for two hours in line so we could get a close spot. We did a coat check and bought a couple t-shirts so by the time we got to the stage, there was quite a few people already standing there. So we kinda pushed our way through because we wanted to be as close as we could. We ended up about 3 rows back, which I thought was pretty good. But then this girl behind starting talking about us saying things like "do they think they're better than us?", "karma is going to bite them in the ass", "how rude are they", and all this other stuff. I was with my sister, a friend of hers, and one of my friends, and we all looked back at her and my sister just said "it's a concert, that's what people do", and she quit for a little while then she started talking again how she wished she had a scissors so she could cut off all my hair and she said something like "do you think she would notice if I cut it off?" and then she went on and on how my hair was "taking up a spot of it's own", which it wasn't. My hair was clung to my back and it was frizzy or sticking out or anything, but she just went on and on, and continually touched my hair, flicking it, pulling it, and eventually she tapped me hard on the shoulder saying "why do you think you're better than us?" I didn't say anything, because I'm not that kind of person who fights with random strangers. After a few more minutes of listening to her go on and on about how annoying my hair was and how rude we were, I just turned around and said to her "would you please stop touching me?!?!" and she went off on me swearing left and right saying how she deserved to be closer than us and all this garbage. She told us how she had to wait in line for 4 hours and that we just budged our way through. If she stood in line for 4 hours out in that cold, she would be frost bitten or something. She asked her boyfriend to go talk to a security guard to get us kicked out but he said he wouldn't. So after about 15-20 minutes of listening to her go on and on about all this garbage, my sisters friend said she would switch spots with me. After we did, she heard this girl say "I guess she was scared of me". Trust me, I wasn't scared of a 4 foot-70lb-fake tanned-platinum blond-b*tch. I've been a fan of the fray for 3 1/2 years now and just wanted to be close to one of my favorite bands. I've talked about this with all my friends and family but I just want to get someone who doesn't know me opinions. Please let me know! I'm still upset about this because I don't get people angry ever and no one has ever been that mean to me before. pictures: photobucket.com/thefrayfirstavethis one is probably my favorite of the night:
