Gavin Degraw's Self Titled

I'm kind of surprised there hasn't really been any talk or posts about Gavin's new album on here (since I know there's fans lol) and about the "leak". Anyway, in case you don't know, the album comes out May 6th (this Tuesday), but I believe it was released earlier in other countries.

Gavin posted his album online a few days ago for everyone to listen to before the release date:

I'm kind of excited and a little let down at the same time. Half the songs on the album are really great songs that he's perfomed live, so I already know them, and really wanted recordings of them, but at the same time, it's like I've already heard like half the album lol Also, some of the recordings disappoint me. I loveee "cop stop" live, but this recording is a bit too weird for me (like the weird voice singing "cop stop" during the chorus lol). But I'm digging the recorded version of "She Holds The Key"

But I'm still liking a lot of the tracks on the album. It's definitely a bit more rock than his last album. Anyway, thought I'd give you guys a head up about the "leak" in case you didn't know

i am SO excited for his new album! i haven't heard about the leak and probably won't listen to it since it's so close to coming out anyway. i'm a little disappointed that he took so long to make an album that i've already heard half the songs on. but i won't judge too much until i listen to it.

the album was all new to me except 'we belong together,' but i like it better than chariot as a whole.

I can't wait for Tuesday. The leak is getting on my nerves lol. I only got like 3 songs to fully play (I'm in love with a girl, she holds the key, i have you to thank). The rest I still have only been able to get about a half of it to load lol. Such a painful teaser lol.

My faves from what I've heard: She Holds The Key, In Love with a Girl, I Have You to Thank, and Cheated on Me. It's so nice to hear new stuff from Gavin. He's been in hiding too long (what's it been 5 years since Chariot came out?... and I agree with you Kate, it's kind of annoying that it took him that long to release an album that was already half written before he went into recording)

I'm having a little conflict with myself lol. Do I want to buy the cd on iTunes at midnight on Tuesday for $9.99 or do I want to wait, and then go to Target and get a hardcopy of it with special computer features (and possibly a DVD) but for more money. Oh, dilemas

Cop Stop's an old song, right?

I think I heard several songs in older or live versions, but the album as a whole sounds more consistent than his debut.

I had a review all put together for this album, but gave up on it because I didn't want to offend anyone. To say I was let down with this album would be a good way of putting it.

It feels too polished to me. That's one thing that I liked about "Chariot" was that it had sort of a "raw" feel too it.

Also, the artwork is possibly some of the worst I have ever seen.

I just got it today and I like it so far. I remember him singing Cop Stop when I saw him in 2004. Maybe a new CD means a new tour??

I thought he was on tour?
because a few months back my friend wanted me to see his concert (or i think it was him) because she liked the opening guy.
but we didn't go because of the ticket price. I could be wrong though. I say yes to too many concerts of bands I'm not a fan of...

He did a few shows here and there, but not a full tour.

I have to say I'm not as thrilled with it as I hoped too, but who knows, maybe it will grow on me, I'll see when I get the double CD in the next days.

A guy I went to high school with was his drummer in the past and also is his drummer in the "In Love With A Girl" video.
