I remember reading this article several years ago but haven't found much about the track since. Rolling Stones articleIt looks like it was supposed to be played Sept. 10, 2001 in Milwaukee along with acoustic versions of What's Wrong With That and Storm. Setlist.fm only has a setlist for Sept. 11, 2001 which featured Climb and Take Me Away.

I seem to recall Walking Man turning into Stanley Climbfall? Could be wrong though; I know in the documentary Jason said that SC was the first track they recorded for that album, but I would think that'd mean it was written prior to Take Me Away... I wonder if that show was ever recorded. Storm and WWWT?? SO cool. There was once a lo-fi recording of Take Me Away that floated around Limewire, taken from some time in the fall of 2001 (prior to the Salt Lake City Olympics though). To this day it's my favourite version of the track – Jason did some little falsetto parts at the end that were gorgeous... now we're looking for two recordings

I remember reading somewhere Walking Man may have become Walking Away but it didn't feel like an NNF/SCF era song so I didn't completely agree. TMA could've been written first but SCF could've just been their first to record. I really need to make a list of these questions and ask Jason the next time they go on tour (hopefully that happens)!

That might make more sense — curious what it would’ve been to start.
Great idea! What questions besides this would you have in mind? I’ve kinda got a mental list I’ve added to over the years.

Hmm, I'm not sure exactly what I would ask now that I think of it. There's been a lot of questions over the years I wish I could ask but I never wrote them down. One question I would definitely ask (aside from Walking Man) is if Climb will ever see the light of day. The DLD/NNF/SCF era was really influential on me (ages 12-15) so I'm sure random fun facts from that era would be interesting as hell. I just stumbled on this webpage and there was a mention of an album called "Fuse" by Blyss. I'd be curious to know if this was at all legit or just some internet blogger speculation: theblahblah.wordpress.com/2007/12/07/blyss-before-lifehouse-there-was-blyss/

I think about Fuse is a speculation, but offcourse i'm not sure.
I don't know of this thing belongs in this thread, but i remember Jason said i thought on Facebook somewhere round the paper cuts time about releasing some songs he recorded he called 'Twisted Lullaby" In his song "Never going back" from the demo album he sings:these twisted lullabies, they haunt my dreams. Could these demo's actually meant to be the twisted lullaby songs he was talking about?

Just found that post you mentioned (June 2, 2017):
I'm also curious now if some of the tracks on Paper Cuts are from the Mr. Tumnus project he was working on in the early/mid 2000s.

I am 99.999% certain that Shiny Silver Beast dates back to Mr. Tumnus. I remember when it was announced as part of Paper Cuts being thrilled that I was finally going to hear it. It was like folklore for years back on the LHF forum.

I am 99.999% certain that Shiny Silver Beast dates back to Mr. Tumnus. I remember when it was announced as part of Paper Cuts being thrilled that I was finally going to hear it. It was like folklore for years back on the LHF forum. Same here – that was a piece of Lifehouse mythology that actually came true. Nobody had ever heard it beyond a title. One day maybe five years ago I spend a few hours cataloguing everything Jason has registered to BMI so I could sort it and geek out hahaha... but it's actually pretty interesting. BMI doesn't attach dates to their copyrighted material, but each song gets a number within the database, and those numbers only ever increase. This means that song number 5416176 (which is HBAM) was registered before song number 5598273 (God's Lemonade). One can begin to date when things were added using this method of comparison. Shiny Silver Beast was registered to BMI in the same batch as Better Part of Me, You and Me, Crown of Scars, "Dear Mr. Tumnus", Mudpie, Storm, Ordinary Pain, and Wish, some time soon after the whole Stanley Climbfall album was copyrighted. A few days later, "Surface", "Tell Me", Song for Pete, and Days Go By were added to BMI too. Similarly, just after the Lifehouse album was copyrighted, "Porcelain Mask", "White Witch", and "Willing" were added. I've always figured that the Tumnus project was made up of these titles: - Dear Mr. Tumnus
- Shiny Silver Beast
- White Witch
- Surface
- Tell Me*
- Porcelain Mask*
- White Witch*
- Willing
The asterisk (*) tracks were cowritten with Ron Aniello, who I figure would've produced whatever that project was. I mean hey, it only took sixteen years for SSB to come out... very possible others will see the light of day eventually. And it's good to remember that the lists of song titles floating out there were never complete – the JW Demoes album from a year ago was entirely made up of tracks that were never registered anywhere online even at the time they were written. There certainly are more!

I think "Crown of Scars" is definitely my favorite Blyss track. I imagine it was registered as a formality but I would love to see them play that song again. I used to wish they'd release those other DLD tracks as Lifehouse but the way the are... nothing can touch that raw energy and nostalgia. Completely unrelated, that DLD album brings back some of the best memories from my early teen years. I just started going through BMI working on the new LHF site and noticed that as well about the IDs. I'd like to add them all eventually but I know some are just songwriting credits for other artists (e.g. Faded Blue Jeans for Kiefer Sutherland). I think Jason mentioned releasing another set of demos around the time he released Vol 1, didn't he? I hadn't really "listened" to that album until I realized I had to transcribe the lyrics for most of it and I actually found myself liking several of the songs I originally passed on. I think for too long I held expectations for LH/JW too high which left me disappointed. Now I'm finally warming up to Ozwald

I'm not sure what EL is?
but this is a nice version of the song, totally different to how it is on the Take Me Away Promo CD as an acoustic
Maybe it's what you're thinking of? I can send it you if you'd like
--- Got another one that had no tags, this sounds more lofi, it's live rather than acoustic and longer, and Jason has higher pitched singing as well, could be it

It sounds like the same version they did on The Carson Daly Show to me, but there's a better quality video & audio of the Carson version. I'm also in a loud place trying to compare both so I could be a little off, but sounds the same to me here.
