Lifehouse has a new single - Static. Woah what a nice surprise.
It has a totally different flavour to Cut & Run and Dragonflies.
The intro is quite long, almost a minute and I love that.
Jason's vocal is quite clear here but still have some effect regardless.
The instruments here are really great, lots going on. And just like the two single, this also has an interlude, which is probably my favourite part. And just like Dragonflies, I also hear some hint of Winzlo here too.
Personally, I love where this new sound of Lifehouse is going.

This is a good one!! Feels like an ‘intro track’ to a project, with the slow build at the start and a consistent build through the song. Cut & Run follows it VERY nicely. I get some Beach House vibes too with that keyboard! Like three or four catchy melodies stacked on one another too. I feel like after listening to this track, releasing Dragonflies should make more sense to the dissidents. It bridges the two songs well. I’m slowly coming around to the idea of a lo-fi Lifehouse album or EP, and now that Static is out I’m pretty much there So weird that they’ve said nothing about it online yet. A mistaken post maybe? I remember when Paper Cuts slowly dropped over summer 2017, they accidentally released Satellites a week before the official launch, which was going to be the title track Paper Cuts. Maybe this was an error too? Edit: looks like they woke up late

Less certain about these lyrics; have a look and see if anyone can figure out that first verse:
I feel the clouds coming on Shadows fall while [pheasants!?] rain outside these walls The strangest dusk has lit the world, stood at my eyes [not sure about this line] Another day of stolen time, the sun is gone
I'm waking up, oh I'm waking up, oh
I feel alive in this space I breathe an easy breath, I see your face The broken pieces find a home, the pain subsides And for a moment time's suspended in this place
I'm waking up, oh I'm waking up, oh The static inside of my head is breaking out Oh
In my mind's eye It's all in my mind's eye In my mind's eye All in my mind's eye

I don't know why but lyrics features on Spotify shows the chorus as I'm breaking out instead of I'm waking up. I listen to it for so many times and still get I'm waking up. I thought my non-native ear is failing me lol
