Paulo Coelho's "Like the Flowing River". I love his ideas and thoughts in this book. Perhaps he and Jason Wade should meet each other They would have very interesting conversations I bet.

I recommend the memoir, Prisoner of Tehran. It's written by a female prisoner during the revolution in Iran during the 1980s. It's a really powerful story that i was so moved by that I'm using it for my senior screenplay. I hope you read this, because of you I googled that book, bought it and read it in two days. I am so moved, that I can't find words to describe what I felt after reading it. I just finished reading some minutes ago. Thank you so much for directing my attention to that wonderful book.

I wanted to bring this thread back up to see if anyone's read anything good lately? My summer is much less busy than in the past, so I've been finding myself having more time to read than usual. I think I might finish my summer book goals earlier than expected and would love to add some books to the queue.

The last book I read was Jodi Picoults The tenth circle. Really liked that. On my "fav-list" are David Benioffs City of Thieves and Paullina Simons The Bronze Horseman and Tatiana and Alexander.
Don't know if the books on my "to read stack" are published in English, the authors names are Wolfgang Hohlbein, Rachel Gibson, Jens Lapidus, Pamela Clare and Jorun Thørring.

At the moment, I'm reading the second book of the Millenium trilogy. So far, it's been entertaining. It's an ok read. I don't think it's great. But at some point, so many people were talking about it, that I felt like I had to read it. That's also the reason why I read the Twilight series (BOY do I regret that T_T)

I actually work for a publishing house so I read quite a lot and sometimes serveral books at the same time. Right now I'm reading Live Wire by Harlan Coben in Dutch. YesNoMaybe: I still haven't read the Millenium trilog actually. Maybe because it's published by a competing publishing house and I got fed up with reading about their success, haha. I don't know, it doesn't seem that good to me. How did you like the first book? And in what language are you reading it?

i just finished "Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet" and it was amazing! I actually really got into it and think it is beautifully written. I definitely recommend it.
And now, back to the Wheel of Time series. anyone else read those? I'm on book 3 so far and enjoying it, though not as much as the second...=/

I'm sorry to say that I never pay attention to the publishing houses Although the books were a huge success, I think it got hyped a little. Don't get me wrong I thought the first book was a good read. But more in the sense of: it is entertaining. There's suspense, a good plot, and you want to keep on reading to find out what happened. But the second book seems to be just more of the same thing. So it has been boring me a bit... I'm reading the books in English. I somehow prefer to read books in English if the writer is non-Dutch. If the writer is Dutch, I read the books in Dutch. I don't like things getting lost in translation

Reviving this thread to ask: Has ayone on here read The Hunger Games Trilogy? I read it a while ago and loved that series. I've re-read it multiple times and my best friends and I always talk about it. The trailer for the first movie is premiering on Monday, and I'm super excited for it (and the movie) so I was just curious if anyone else on here has read it.

So I read Will Lavender's second novel, "Dominance," and wow...soooo good. Highly recommended, especially if you like mysteries that really play with your mind.
Currently reading his first novel, "Obedience," which I also recommend.
