Sorry, I haven't updated the main post in a while...but will do it when I get back from Dallas. I'm impressed with how much you all are having a chance to read and can't wait to read some of your picks. when I was younger I had problems sleeping, so my parents always had me read to fall asleep, and it stuck. And I'm in public transportation several hours a week, so lots of reading time.

^^are those the Obama (audio) books? Since I finished "The Thursday Friend" I need something new to read. I almost bought something at the train station today, but I couldn't find anything I liked. However, tonight I remembered I should still have "Pompeii" by "Robert Harris" laying around somewhere. So if I can track that one down I should start that one. I think I was going to read it once, but then I started and I couldn't get through the first 2 pages (I was really impatient, lol) but I wanna give it another try, because I do think I will really like it. Robert Harris is a British novelist who writes both Fiction & Non-Fiction books. Pompeii is a Fiction novel, though I read his Non-Fiction books on Hitler & The Falkland War and I thought those were good books. He used to be a reporter for Newsnight (on BBC) and wrote articles for renowned British newspapers. Many of you have probably either read, heard of or seen the movie of Enigma (his best known book) and maybe some of you know of Archangel (made into a TV movie/mini series for the BBC recently, starring Daniel Craig). Pompeii is the start of a three piece about the time of the Roman Empire. Pompeii was going to be made into a movie, but I have no idea if that's still gonna happen. The story is based on real historic facts. I don't know much about it yet, and I haven't read the following Wikipedia article, because I want to read the book first. But the link below has more info on the plot and the book itself: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pompeii_%28novel%29

Isn't he the guy who wrote Message In A Bottle & The Notebook?
I think I have "True Believer" by him, though I never got to reading it

I've only read one of his books, but The Rescue is one of my friend's favorites. I'm sure it'll keep getting better since she liked it so much. And once I finally get my hands on a copy, I'll be reading Stephen Christian's (of Anberlin) book that just came out- "The Orphaned Anythings" Hopefully it'll live up to the hype

I think I have "True Believer" by him, though I never got to reading it yes. i used to love him a few years ago. when the rescua came out actually. and i read it. and realized all his books are the same. someone with a kid who is single. meets a perfect person. fight. then they end up together in the end. theres always a kid too. i dunno... i got over em. theyre good while they last though. im currently reading "Rebecca" by daphne du maurier. one of my all time favorite books. reading it the second time around currently and still.. sigh. just one of my favorites. i recommend it completely.

i just finished "Night" by Elie Wiesel.
its the author's retelling of his time in a Nazis death camp where he witnesses the death of his family, his innocence and his God.
its extremely short read, only 109 pages. and it's an amazing book; extremely sad and shocking, but worth the read. i'm a sucker for stories centered around WWII.
