There was this amazing story I read in the paper today: www.dispatch.com/dispatch/content/local_news/stories/2007/07/08/hydroman.ART_ART_07-08-07_A1_4V77MOK.htmlIt's about a guy who supposedly invented a car that ran entirely on water in the 80's. He got visits from the Oil companies, auto industries and Government offering him money to stop his idea. He died in mysterously in 1998 from what some think in poisoning, but the coroner said it was a brain anuerysm. I personally think he was probably just bonkers, but I'm not willing to completly rule out that this guy was ligit. There actually are prototypes of cars/engines running on a lot of things but gas or petrol. There are cars/engines on electricity, water, grease, alcohol, poppyseed oil, cabbage oil, hydrogen, manure/fecies. And there are several other methods in development. But a lot of these plans (like the hydrogen car) are being held up by the oil companies, because they can still make huge profits with oil. Recently they gave the fiat for the bio-ethanol cars (which are still way more expensive than regular cars, but probably not for long) so those are finally applied into commercial use. But the oil companies just bought the patent for the cars, so they can decide when to come forward with it. There is still a lot of research left before they can be utilized commercially though. The costs are too high and the efficiency is too low. My job this summer is actually making a catalyst for a fuel cell(still unsucessful after 3 weeks, chromium is a difficult molecule!) Also, currently the main source of Hydrogen gas comes from methane and other fossile fuels, so it is not completely without CO2-emission. one also has to consider the energy cost of storing and moving the hydrogen as it is a very volatile and higly explosive compound, as I actually experienced today! Not all the hydrogen was removed from the furnace when my teaching supervisor decided to remove one of the ends. The temperature in there was about 600 degrees C. So there was a loud bang as the hydrogen reacted with oxygen. Screw oil companies. Well, most of them anyway, some of them are actually thinking ahead and are spending a lot of money on developing new, renewable energy sources. In 50 years time we hopefully won't have any need for oil companies anymore. I'd think it strange if it was running on water as water is a very stable compound. It would be very difficult to extract energy out of it. But, as Koen said, other substances, methanol, phosporic acid and so on I had a subject on solar cells, fuel cells and hydrogen technology this spring. I thought it was very interesting, I hope I will be able to work with this in the future.

fracking panorama maker. my dad dragged the family out for our first ever family fun day (where he was actually involved in planning and the like) to hanging rock, where i took 56ish pics. went home, tried to put them in a panorama with the software that came with my cam (i'm too cheap to fork out another $15 for a diff one ) and it fracking cut off half my grandpa's face. it's either i have his face, or i have the tree behind him looking normal, cos i can only pick 3 points to do the panorama thing on. it took me to 4am yesterday to get it looking halfway decent... then i fell asleep and my laptop shut down, taking everything with it. i hate powersave ==" sorry guys, i just had to rant.

I'm completely hating a friend of mine right now. Actually for a while now. She actually called and begged me to play the Softball tournment but I don't want to. Since when did the decision of me not playing softball affect her?? as well as the decision for the unknown reason why we don't hang out anymore?? Ugh.. I just can't take it... If she talks to me on Msn tonight I'm gonna give her an answer more than just "No" or "Because I don't want to" I know it seems I'm being harsh and I 'am; considering I just ignore what she says or agree with her; but this time I'm just gonna let her know what I really "think" of her now and that things aren't the same..

But don't be tooo harsh My grandma is since few days in a different hospital and she's getting better, but is still very weak. My dad drove over the wekekend to Poland to visit her, which of course made her very happy, so that's also good and helps her hopefully to get healthy again.

I hate falling sick in the beginning of an extremely busy week My pics aren't that good, it's either the camera settings, the camera or the person behind the camera who couldn't be still Heh, it's certainly not your fault. WTF?? my friend/sister kimi found this song (enrique iglesias - do you know (the ping pong song)) Speaking of the ping pong song, I hear there's this Asian artiste, by the name of Jay Chou, who also used the beat of ping pong balls for one of his songs. Gotta give the credit of using table tennis to him. Can't quite stand his music, however. My grandma is since few days in a different hospital and she's getting better, but is still very weak. My dad drove over the weekend to Poland to visit her, which of course made her very happy, so that's also good and helps her hopefully to get healthy again. I hope she gets better soon, Minka.

^you play/used to play softball? awesomeness yeah you should do that if she's not getting the msg to just leave you alone lol Yes I play softball but the tournment they had today was just something to do I guess, I do like playing softball and normally our team plays a tournment like at the last of september. Though we never won last year but always next year lol even though there aren't many students in my school so our team is getting smaller. On the other note I haven't said nothing to my friend. Though we really need to hang out. I don't know why she won't anymore. I have said nothing harsh to her (not yet and probably won't now) but i don't know. It's like her other friends are important and the ones she spends time with the most. I haven't seen her in weeks but oh well; I can't tell her who she should hang out with and pick her friends for her. Had a water balloon fight with my brothers and his gf. Cold but awesome. ;D
