Hi all, my first post! I was just looking up Lifehouse stuff randomly on the web and I came across this guy's livejournal. He works directly for Geffen and one of the artists he has to help promote is Lifehouse. I think I saw him at the Nissan Live Sets too, in the seating area reserved for Geffen people, and I saw his username on Lifehousemusic.com once. I guess it's just funny to find real people connected to Lifehouse's management. There are posts of him trying to get ppl to come to the Nissan Live Sets, a brief mention of him talking with Lifehouse over business stuff, and promoting the First Time video. Ha, it'd be funny if he suddenly got a whole bunch of complaints from Lifehouse fans because of the recent intense hatred towards Geffen. isogen.livejournal.com/

It seems that at least he's trying to do something. And since the album came out I've been pretty satisfied with the progress that's going on in the promotion. So hopefully that'll be visible in the sales # of records & tickets

Promotion is going pretty well now; I just wish they'd started earlier. Edit: OMG he has a picture with Perez! *jealous*

I also agree that promotion really picked up after the release of the album, but I still think it would have been useful of them to begin promotion far earlier and get the music video out BEFORE the album release, not after.

Geffen guy replied to my old journal entry about the fan club (anonymously) but I'm pretty sure it's him: "yeah, the club isn't geffen records at all. record labels like warner bros records will charge for fan clubs like linkin park or red hot chili peppers, in opening new profit streams for the label. geffen actually wants fans concentrated at lhmusic, thus building the message board site, ask lifehouse, developing content like the viral videos, in studio/on tour episodes, etc. please dont be so harsh on the label. with over 15 million searches for lifehouse on illegal download sites, per only 500 purchased, you could see how marketing dollars and staff just aren't there to support like they used to be." savemeimdtba.livejournal.com/282502.html

That's really interesting. I curse people who steal music, I really do. So, if it's not Geffen, who is doing the fan club? Band management? If so, then the band has a lot more say over it than if the label was running it. I'm confused. Well, we know whose running it (Ultrastar) but who hired them...? He's acting like Geffen had nothing to do with it... so i'm confused.

At least they are in on the deal, cause Lifehousemusic.com is part of Geffen, so I don't think it'd be on there if Geffen wasn't in on it. On the other hand, Geffen doesn't make the decisions within the fanclub, so we can't really put that on their blame.

Well, the outside promo company had to get consent from someone to represent Lifehouse. Someone hired them and if it wasn't Geffen, it was their management.

Well yes, the fan club decisions would be the 3rd party, but whoever set up the deal had to agree to certain terms because not only does it deal with online matters, but it requires a certain amount of the guys' time as well, and cuts out the possibility of geffen doing anything directly themselves similar to anything the club is offering.
Also, whether it's the band management or geffen who set up the deal, geffen is in the deal somewhere because they've prominently linked the club from the site they own and run.

I just checked this guy's blog again today and lo and behold, he has the Lifehouse bottle opener youtube video up and even says "These guys are my favorite artists I have ever worked with".
He also briefly explains how the youtube video came about: He needed to open a bottle and Bryce said "yeah I can open that for you." I don't know why, but that made me laugh... ;D
