My lower back is killing me . I hurt it while doing a new sit-up techique on the ball. It's been hurting for like two weeks now and I can't afford to go to the doctor to get it looked at. I've been trying hard to stay active by continuing to work out and clean up and stuff. It really hurts when I'm sitting or trying to stand up. Or if I'm standing up for too long. Does anyone know what I can do? And before you say go to the doctor I'm going to go ahead and rule that out

I don't really know what to do to make it better, and I'm no medical expert but I do know that you should not ignore back injuries like that :-( I know you don't want to go to the doc, but if it doesn't get better soon that could be a sign that you're doing some serious damage to yourself.

Hm, maybe find somebody to give you a massage? That really sucks that you can't afford to go to a doctor. Is that so expensive in the US?
Actually, I also have a back ache because this chair is so uncomfortable. *wantsacouch* So, I'm feeling you, even if it's probably not as bad as yours.

I injured my lower back once. And what I had to do is just lie on the floor. I was there for 3 days, it aches a lot but it sorts it out - honest! I also managed to position myself so I could see the TV... so watched 2 series of 24

Is that so expensive in the US? YES!!! It is unbelievable how much health care costs. If you don't have health insurance and hurt yourself, you're pretty much screwed. I pay $237/month for health insurance (actually my employer pays it, but if I had to pay out of pocket, that's about how much it would be). I've had several tests run on me here recently in order to diagnose some symptoms I've been having and my insurance paid for it all except I had to pay a $20 copay....my insurance company sends me an itemized report in the mail of what all they paid for exactly...so far, they've paid $194 for the first dr. visit, $364 for bloodwork (I got ONE vial of blood taken out of my arm and it cost that much!! ), $96 for my second dr. visit and then I have 2 more appointments - another one for some bloodwork (another $350 bill I'm sure) and another dr. appt (another $100 or so). Then, I have 2 prescriptions that i must take every month....I absolutely NEED one prescription and without health insurance it would run me about $40/month. The cost of health care in the USA is absolutely UNREAL. *shuts up now*

^^agrees with Tonya. My "health care" plan won't cover this so I'm stuck. I'll try the laying on the floor thing during the day because our floors are too cold at night. And the I've been giving myself a massage because I'm the only one who knows how to do one.

holy cow, so much money!!!!
In Germany you don't have to pay ONE euro as long as you don't work or turn 24 - it's free!! You only gotta pay when your older than 23 or/and when you start to work
You only have to pay 10 Euro every 3rd month (so every quarter) when you go to the doctor.... (when you're 18 and over 18 years old)
for example you need to go to the doctor in january and march you gotta pay 10 euro ONCE

^ it's not free; you pay it with taxes, right?
Lisa, can't you go to Cook County Hospital and be seen for free?

^^There are a number of reason why I won't go to Cook County and two are.. 1.) It's not that serious yet 2.) They're the reason my mother is dead. Not saying it could happen to me, but knowning that doesn't make me want to go there any more than just staying at home in pain The laying ont he floor thing has helped. I was just laying there for about an hour and my pain is going down. I'll try to do that more later. Thanks everyone, you guys are really great ;D

In the UK you don't pay anything ever (Unless you go private)... well you do, but through taxes
