A Conversation with Lifehouse
Lifehouse latest CD is self-titled. These guys have qualities that your mom would love. Here’s an interview with the group Lifehouse.
Shelia Goss: Please introduce yourself and tell what you bring to the group.
Lifehouse: Rick, the drummer. Been in the group for over 6 years.
Shelia: How did you all get together to form a group?
Lifehouse: Original bass player quit during the two year hiatus. We stayed together because of the fans…more R & B than rock. Jason had Lifehouse…I was with another Dream Works artist…we passed each other in the hallways…I got called in for an audition and got chosen to be in the group.
Shelia: Who came up with the name Lifehouse?
Lifehouse: Jason came up with the name.
Shelia: What’s different about this album than your last ones?
Lifehouse: We’ve seen peaks and valleys of the record industry. Our first record had massive appeal. The second record didn’t live up to the first one. When we did the third album, we had no pressure. We went in and had fun. The CD sounds relaxed because it was relaxing to record…had good vibes and started recording the music…focused on sound…instead of trying to do it all too fast…it was carefree and the magic was there right away.
Shelia: How long does it take you to put an album together?
Lifehouse: One and a half months. Played the songs back maximum of twice.
Shelia: Are any of the songs reflective of your real life experiences?
Lifehouse: Most of the record is Jason…he’s the main writer. The songs deals with breakups…relationships…venting about that…we have straight up love songs. This album is lyrically different than the first two.
Shelia: How does your family deal with your fame?
Lifehouse: At the end of the day we’re just musicians…we just make albums…we don’t think of ourselves as famous…we try to be humble.
Shelia: Where will you be touring?
Lifehouse: Recently got back from Europe. Will be in US on four or five month tour…will also be touring in Europe, Japan and Australia. Will be on tour for the next year.
Shelia: What can your fans expect from you next?
Lifehouse: Promoting new album as long as we can…come see us on tour in a town near you…we’re doing TV/RADIO and doing whatever it takes to promote the album.
Shelia: What’s something about each one of you that your fans don’t know?
Lifehouse: We’re big fans of the Texas hoedown version of poker. We do it to kill time while on the road.
Lifehouse, the self-titled CD, is in stores now. They are touring, so be sure to check your local venues to see when they will be in a town near you.
