So exciting! I hope it’s produced in a less lo-fi sound than the Ozwald and recent JW stuff — sounds like Bryce is singing on the chorus of the preview too which is exciting. New album or new EP, what are our guesses?

I'm guessing it's just an EP but I hope I'm wrong. I'd be delighted if we can get full album from them this year

I think they will test. If the singles (I think they will release 2 or 3 before anything) go well, probably we will get an album for november or something.

Idk why everyone is so surprised. He said almost a year ago now that he was only a few songs away from having a complete LH album. He also more recently said there would definitely be new LH music in 2021...he also kept posting all those random lyrics, even if they were primarily for solo stuff.
I think Jason tends to be a bit more traditional in his LH approach. I imagine if he is releasing a new song, that it means there is probably an album nearly ready to release by the end of the year. But I guess we’ll see. He seems really uninspired to promote and push LH anymore which is disappointing to me.

Keeping my expectations low for this one, but it's good to hear that some new LH stuff coming out

Wowza! Totally didn’t see this coming. Listen to it and then finish reading my post.
————————————
There are cool bass licks, one of the best driving beats they’ve ever done, Jason singing outside his comfort zone, Bryce belting it out in the chorus, solid lyrics, an Ozwald-ey dreamscape of an interlude, screaming guitars, lovely harmonies, and layers that ebb and flow in a fantastic composition of push and pull. I haven’t heard them this hungry since Flight, and this song in my view is infinitely more creative than Hurricane, the last real rock song they did that kinda did as little for me as the melodically similar All In ;P I sure hope they’re coming out with an album soon, and if they do, J and Steve’s time focusing on Ozwald has done so much good for the band. What a surprise and what a comeback song. 10/10.

The rhythm section is locked in on this. This song shows growth as a band, while also not straying far from their sweet spot. That's very difficult to do, but they did it on this one.

I love how it still feels like a Lifehouse song but manage to sound fresh. Really looking forward to album (really hope this is the case).

The lyrics look promising and the level of the energy seems quite high... Hopefully this means we're not getting an Almeria . I'm positively surprised that we're getting something that sounds fresh .

This song shows growth as a band, while also not straying far from their sweet spot. That's very difficult to do, but they did it on this one. Agreed! If I were to compare it to something from the JW back catalogue, it's sort of a cross between Disarray and One for the Pain, with a bit of Daydreams and Hollow Queen thrown in there to shake things up. I like what you said too snowfist – I think this is my favourite first single as well, maybe tied with Spin? Interestingly, the song was written and composed by Jason and Winnie. Nice to see he's still involved, even after reverting from a brief five-piece to a four-piece for touring purposes. Is this the first song he's had a hand writing? Side note, but I hear quite a bit of Switchfoot in the guitar work. I guess this is the first time Steve is featured in the studio on a Lifehouse song... those sounds at the very end of the song are reminiscent of the time Sean was the touring guitarist and are a welcome jolt of energy alone! Another side note, but does anyone else here find it refreshing that a first single from a musician in 2021 is 4:15 long? I was worried the song would suffer a similar fate to most of current pop radio and come in just over the 2:40 mark, but no siree, we have a track that has breathing room and space for experimentation. A good day to be a Lifehouse fan!
