I really miss lifehouse, but it looks like they don't have the drive to work together on new material. At least Øzwald is a good side project with solid stuff... But it isn't the same unfortunaly. 😪

Yeah, I was taken aback when I read the write up about the new Ozwald record where it says Jason “fronted” (as in past tense) Lifehouse.

That’s pretty disappointing... I’m glad he’s into Ozwald stuff and the group is still playing one-off shows though. 2019 had 15 shows or so and brought back a ton of older material; I just got tickets to see them in February 2020 in Niagara. They may not release a new album in the future, but this year J seemed happier playing music than the last few years in my opinion, even if they may not be so into Lifehouse anymore

Really a bummer that there won't be a Lifehouse album for a while. But I'm really enjoying what Ozwald has to offer thus far

On one hand I agree with you, on the other I'd rather Lifehouse stopped being a band and left us with good memories and their good classic songs than if they continued on and put out crappy music that they no longer identify with and that is a shadow of its former self. They're all getting older. The time to write about teenage angst is over for them...and to be honest most of the newer LH songs just didn't have the same caliber as the older music. I think of it like watching a good TV series. Would I love to see 5 more seasons of Breaking Bad? Hell yeah. But I am glad it ended the way it did.

I think Daniel got it. I feel like Ozwald is Jason's outlet for writing where he's at these days, and continuing to be creative in the same vain as his older work. There's a lot of 2004-era Lifehouse in Ozwald songs, be it the Elliot Smith and Beatles influences, the instrumentation and vocals, etcetera. That said, I think OOTW showed in some of the songs a more mature vantage point than some of the albums in between, with great help of the Paper Cuts project before it (and the lightness that came with it and Almeria). I don't see him recording another Nerve Damage, Better Luck Next Time, or Bridges again (One for the Pain felt like the end of that lineage), but the more introspective and lifey songs for lack of a better term that I personally feel truly define them (All in All, Trying, Everything, Signs of Life, Yesterday's Son) seem to be an endless well in Jason. The Ozwald songs feel like a continuation of this, both lyrically and melodically. But for sure, the All Ins and First Times of the world were from a place and time he's not in anymore. Reviving them I kinda think would be like an Office Reboot

I'm sad that the Flights and Everythings' days are over 😅😢 but that's right... Hear Jason share vocals with Steve is what we can have. Better than nothing.

I’m totally hoping for a 20yr NNF tour. If they officially “break up”, I reckon it’d be a fine way to go...
Edit: Clarification... there’s been no word of a break up or anything. I’m just saying if they did decide that, it would be a brilliant way to sum it all up
